Mares Puck Pro Max Accent Rate?

I have just purchased the puck pro and took it on two dives today but when I have received my dives in the log book it displays a 20 m/min max accent rate. Can anyone clarify what this is describing as my max depth 29.4 and I had no fast accent alarm and had a slow gradual accent to 6m for a safety stop?

Some computers have very sensitive accent rate alarms. Lift your hand just a bit faster than "slow" (eg to dump air from your bcd) and off it goes.
Also beginners (if your dive count in your profile is correct) tend to generally move hands around which doesn't help.
With practice you will learn to reduce moving and make it smoother when you need to move both of which will reduce such alarms.

Are you saying it is displaying an ascent rate that should have caused an alarm, but didn’t?
Is it possible you have the audible alarm turned off, or just didn’t notice?
Also, it is monitoring all of your ascent, including from your safety stop to the surface.

I have attached a picture of the log from my second dive showing the max accent rate at 20m/min but we had a gradually accent with no alarms

I don't know this particular computer. I'm using cressi newton (and Leonardo before). In my computers even if you set the alarm even instantaneously during the dive the corresponding icon appears at the log.
It doesn't mean that your whole accent was faster than 20m/min - it means that at least once during your dive you accented faster than this (for example it can be for even a second if you lift your hand too fast).
You can see this if you transfer the profile to your desktop computer. There usually, you can see exactly when the alarm happened.
Of course most important of all READ AND UNDERSTAND THE MANUAL of your computer

thank you for the reply Stepfen I will try checking the log on the computer, have read various versions of the manual but the only information I could find that it was telling me the max accent rate. thinking back through the dive I believe it may be the rate I was bringing up my arm to check the data and will try reduce this on future dives.

It should have been beeping during that events - but some times it's hard to notice especially if you wear a hood and/or dive in a noisy environment. Best thing you can do is to trigger it intentionally while paying attention to listen to the warning during your next dive. You can do this eg by having your body vertical and your hand/computer down to your waist/thigh and suddenly move your hand straight up. You should get an aural warning.

As a good practice you should get used to always move slow and calmly in the water, not only to avoid such "alarms", but most importantly to conserve energy.

I had posted this to your other thread.
Sometimes if you move your hand upward while you were ascending, the combination of the two might trigger the fast ascent alarm (and record it) though you were ascend withing the recommended limits. This has been my experience with two different Mares computers.

I try to creep up the water column when I actually make my ascent, but during my dives I have a tendency to frolic from sheer joy, and this can mean dolphining, somersaults, freediver type arm extensions, waves, swooping over things, etc.— slightly horrifying my cave trained buddies. ( Note: this is in open water). When I look at my log ascent rate is almost always blown. Even when I work at being extra slow ascending, watching the rate indicator, later I find it happened at some point. I think my oceanic computers have a hyper sensitive sensor for that. Maybe Mares does too.

By the way swimming vigorously on scuba is not recommended really, it is exercise, it is better to be quiet, so don’t follow my bad example. I pool swim a lot so for me this is very relaxed and easy.
