Very similar to when private companies have big layoffs or go out of business. Fortunately, most will still have their job when this is over so these national park trips can resume.

In terms of credit, pretty much every lender has provided relief similar to the relief disaster victims get. So they should be okay on their dive boat payments.

My wife works for the National Park Service. My diving is hold for the moment as we are currently without half our income.

It is selfish of me to whine but I finally decided to apply for my Global Entry and had really thought I might have it for my next trip. Then the shutdown. They say they are still approving applications but it has already been weeks past the “average.”

How did it effect your diving?

As a Federal Employee deemed "Essential" I am one of those who are working without getting paid. When we see these politicians say "It is a vacation!" then that line does not apply to me. I have to show up at work and work for three people who were "non-Essential." After missing two paychecks things start to hit you ya know.

I was planning to do a diving trip to NC next month but I pulled out of it. Also pulled out of Lake Jocassee trip and I can also not commit or place any deposit towards my Tech 1 trip that was scheduled for March. I am keeping myself to essential purchases such as food and baby diapers etc. Diving is not on the menu for the time being though I may have enough to do a dip in the local quarry.

It worked this past Saturday when I landed in MIA. What a time saver. I have Global Entry as well as TSA Precheck and I do recommend them. But for getting into the country, nothing is as easy as mobile passport.

You're blowing it, man!

The running joke is that if too many people find out about it, it will start to be slow. When I got to the final check point, there were 6 agents and 9 people in line. I looked over at the traditional line and there were well over a couple hundred people waiting with only about 10 agents. There was this one jerk sitting beside me that had no checked bags and in a terrible hurry. He pushed peeps around trying to get out of the airport and it was funny to see him stuck in line.

So keep it just between us ScubaBoarders, eh???
