Who is going to be leaving the Cozumel airport soon?

As you walk by the duty free shop, there is a sign about carrying full size liquor bottles on planes, even on connecting flights, as long as they are in a sealed bag - or something similar. Please take a clear photo of that sign and post it here.

If you have time, also ask how much Don Julio 1942 is in 750 ml or Liter bottles, and post those prices & sizes.

This not specific to Cozumel and TSA changed the rules back in 2014:

However, if you buy the items at a duty free shop outside the US, they are in transparent containers and the shop has packaged the bottles in an official tamper-evident, secure bag, you can keep them in your carry-on bag all the way to your US destination even if they are larger than 3.4 ounces (100 ml). You must carry the receipt for this purchase with you on all legs of your flight, and the duty free items must have been purchased within the last 48 hours. The TSA changed this rule to permit use of secure, tamper-evident bags in August 2014.

Keep in mind that every rule is at the discretion of the agent who screens you, regardless of if you have the documentation that shows otherwise.
We've been made to put our duty free purchases, in the secure bag, into our checked luggage when going through our domestic connection. They would NOT allow it in the carry on. They did not care that the website said otherwise, even when presented with it. (The connection was DFW)

Ok, so the CNN article I found is five years old. I'd still like to see that sign at that airport again, and I know we have members leaving there frequently.

I saw the sign. It says exactly what you think it says (I didn't take a picture of it), but two agents in DFW told me in no uncertain terms that my tequila would not be going to Iowa unless I moved it into my checked bag. It was double bagged and double zip tied at the POS and I had the receipt and boarding pass, but they didn't care.

I had a friend lose a bottle trying to get it through security in the states last year. If you want to keep it put it in your checked bag or have a direct flight to your home airport. The clerks at Duty Free told him no need to put it in the checked bag, that didn't workout well.

Double bagged and zipped tied is not an approved tamper proof way of packaging. If bagged using one of the approved TSA bags, you will have no issues in security. Goggle "tamper evident tsa bag" to get an idea.

The duty free shop in the airport packages it, not the customer.

They said NO liquids. In any packaging. They specified duty free purchases must go into checked bags.

When you buy at duty free, they will package it for your flight and deliver to the plane. Once you go through customs and immigration upon re-entry, you MUST put it in your checked bag before you recheck your bags.

With so many phone carrying members leaving Cozumel by plane, I am surprised that such a simple request is going so unfulfilled.
