@OrcaTorch very exciting that you’re taking the plunge into more canister style lights. Opefully the D630 will be as affordable as the d620 for the light it provides.

I really hope this light is no more than 600€. I think that would be fair but we’ll have to wait and see what you guys come out with.

Gosh! For this amount of money (or another € 50-100 added) you can get a Gralmarine 3XML-2 head with a 10.2A canister!?! These are among the best lights around and they are made in EU. I have no doubt about the quality of the Orca products but €600 for the D630 sound surrealistic.

Hi everyone, pls check out the D630 canister dive light here.

Will an empty battery case also be made available to buyers, so that they can use their own easily swapped 18650 cells?

When is the public release and what is the RRP? The torch looks good and I look forward to trying one out!

Finally someone's making lights powerful enough to warrant a cannister form factor!

Maybe one of your revelations will be e a can light with one of the cree high power chips producing over 10k lumens? Combine that with a canister sized for an SLA pack from an 100w HID and you would have quite the illuminating experience.

Maybe one of your revelations will be e a can light with one of the cree CXA3050 chips producing over 10k lumens? Combine that with a canister sized for an SLA pack from an 100w HID and you would have quite the illuminating experience.

At 27mm x 27mm, that CXA3050 might be pretty hard to focus in a 6 - 8 degree beam. At least, in a light head of useful size.

I would be pretty happy with a can light with a Cree XHP70, putting out 4000 lumens. The XPH70 is 7mm square. I'd even be happy with an XHP50 putting out an honest 2500 lumens. That one is 5mm square.

One of those ought be be able to produce a nice tight beam from a reasonably compact head.

In other words, I really just want an updated OrcaTorch D620 that has a canister that is double in size, has a 6 - 8 degree beam angle, and that has one more brightness setting, to output somewhere closer to 4000 lumens (since it already has an XHP70 emitter).

Been using a Northern Light System 40W Superspot Lighthead with built in 100-75-50-25% Dimmer for the last 4 years - so far I haven't found anything tighter-brighter-or-better for cavediving. I bought it because somebody reccomended it to me back when I was looking for a light that would put a spot out in front of a scootering buddy in cave without good visibility. I wasn't disappointed and will eventually buy a second one before I retire to northern Florida in a couple of years. That and the bigger Gralmarine cannesters are definately the way to go.

I think with a well designed light head you might be able to do it. I've got a project light that I'm building. I've only got a 100w chip in there (8500 lumen) that is approximately 25x25. It's going into an old OMS light head. The OMS has a "focusable" beam that works by moving the emitter toward or away from the end of the head. The shape of the reflector surrounding the emitter varies, thereby changing the beam angle.

However, for this kind of power I was thinking more along the lines of a wider beam anyway.

Good idea, but there will be no empty battery case for the D630. The battery connection design is different from D620.

It is still in testing stage and will be public release in May. Sorry the PRP is not available at the moment. Pls keep attention. Thanks!
