I think spotted eel. I have seen a few spotted eels that had a predominantly white bachground and few spots. The one here is from Cozumel (overexposed photo)..

Yeah, forgot to include this was in Bonaire. Looks closer than anything else I've seen. Except they have a distinguished greenish head. Mine doesn't.

It doesn’t look like spotted moray as its pots are irregular. I couldn’t find such pattern in Reef Fish Identification Florida Caribbean Bahamas book by Paul Humann & Ned Deloach. You may find the Indo-Pacific eel lost in Caribbean. :D

When an eel bites your thigh
And the pain makes you cry
That's a Moray

I'm a:dork2:

May be a Snake Eel, See pages 502-506 of the 4th edition of Fish ID. For example, the Spotted Snake Eel or the Spotted Spoon-Nose Eel:

Disagree. The animal in the OP’s pic has an identifiable eel-like dorsal fin. Snake eels lack a dorsal fin. Definitely Muraenidae. Probably a Spotted Moray.

I have seen a number of those on Boniare. I think it's a spotted moray that got shafted when spots were given out.
