New Perdix owner here, did 2 dives yesterday with my new toy and I'm in the process of learning the software. If I had violated the 30ft/min ascent rate, would those alarms automatically show up on the graph of my dives? I'm operating in OC rec mode.

Don't know about Perdix, but they show on my Mares Icon.

Hi Andy,

Ascent rate violations will not show up in the graph on the dive computer or in the log software.
You will of course get a warning on the dive computer itself during the dive.

The fast ascent warning works in two ways: First the ascent chevrons will go red and start to blink, but if the fast ascent is continued, you will get a text warning on the screen that will not go away until confirmed.

Please let me know if this answers your question.

For my Oceanic VT3 or VT4, fast ascents are shown on the dive graphic as a yellow line. Here is an example

Thanks for the info. Really happy with the computer and software, you guys build a top notch product.

Why would the ascent rate violations not be recorded and show up on the dive graphics? Isn't this valuable feedback?

If you have a little experience with Excel you can export the file as a CSV. Simple formula to compare one cell to the prior one. The limitation is the data rate. If the samples are 10 seconds apart you only check between those 10 second. The computer is faster than that, so the display might show more than what the file will display back.

This is at the root of my question. If I screw up, I’d like to know. Maybe make it an option with one of the click boxes at the bottom? Thought I had seen a Shearwater graph with red circles on it indicating violations but it could have been a different computer or software, I can’t be sure. The information is already on the graph and can be calculated with the slider.

Hi @Andy in Gap

In addition to showing up on the dive graphic (post #4), the ascent violation is shown in the dive details:

Which software is that, Oceanic or other?

The thing that brought this up is at one point my old computer was beeping but I never got more than 2 chevrons on the Perdix. Old computer is a Cressi Leonardo and is way too jumpy with the fast ascent warning. Simply raising your arm will set it off.
