Wow - you give up easily? You only got a handful of responses and I'd say you characterization of SB is off. There are many divers who enjoy cold water - if you are passionate about it, put some effort into it and organize something for diver who share your interests!
Not really, but I certainly don’t need this crap either!
Yes, like Max said, I organized a big campout and dive party up in Mendocino for years. It was centered around abalone diving and gourmet seafood cuisine and the best wine, complete with professional chefs and a full pop up professional kitchen. I had people from several states away attend and even a few from different countries on occasion.
It was a multiple person effort that took a lot of time and energy.
At one point I was up to about 75 people.
With a get together that I’m proposing I might just keep it on the CA forum or private. I need positive productive energy, not stupid worthless comments.

Who is giving you crap and how are the posts here stupid, worthless comments?

You posted a question as to why there were no SB Surges in CA - you got a few responses that you don't seem to like and then you seemingly gave up. I merely suggested you not give up? Apparently you have history and skills in organizing events that you had not shared which is great and should serve you well in organizing future CA events.

Since it coltish water we may want to call it a SB shrinkage rather than surge. The truth aquatics boats are not huge as far as numbers of divers goes, best with 20 to 30, they run a good live aboard though, added bonus it the SB in SB. Ventura has some good day boats, Spectre and Peach both have hot tubs. If I’m in country and my wife hasn’t booked my time you can count me in.

Hi Eric,

I love diving Truth Aqautics boats and Peace. The water in August and September isn't that cold. The surface temp is downright comfy for California, Washington, and BC divers.

My chart room has the full compliment of nautical charts for all of the Channel Islands including Tanner and Cortez Banks. The northwest side of Santa Cruz, San Clemente's Pyramid Cove and Pyramid Head are my favorite areas.

As others have stated, it would not be a fully encompassing experience like a Surge or Invasion; however, it would be a great experience with Scubaboarders.

Diving the Channel Islands in winter/spring is a hit-n-miss proposition. Pacific storms and cold water are the norm. Daytime air temps are about 50 to 60 F on good days in the winter.

Nice idea,
m

@Eric Sedletzky , if you (or other CA divers) do decide to put together something I hope you'll post it. Again, I'm a warm & blue diver, but the description of your previous outings sounds great and I might want to try a bit of CA diving especially if it included good food, beautiful CA vistas, and interesting people/conversation. I like to think I can still crawl out of my shoebox from time to time. :) I'm sure there are others out there that feel the same way.

We’re moving this to the California Forum.
Anyway, I think a trip planned on one of the Socal dive boats by scubaboarders would be great fun!
It will take some planning and logistics but I think we can fill a boat no problem. Late summer early fall is a great time. It might have to be in 2020 since this year is pretty much booked up for me, and most of the boats are already booked for this year for multi day charters.
What we could do though is plan a day boat or a couple day boats in a row for local California SB members.
It’s still a good time diving with people who share a common thread.
The Spectre out of Ventura is great for this. They let you sleep on the boat the night before and feed you like a king. If the captain goes to two different areas on two different days it might be worth it. I think a trip is still $130 a day for three tanks including food and a bunk for the night before.

I'm interested in the day boat(s), or the shrink if I'm still free. Happy to get in the water together.
