Greg was the clerk who placed his super duper UW camera down after a dive at his feet way out of harms way and a rouge wave came in a washed it away.

He was just completing college and like all college students was living on a shoe string-- several weeks later a diver came into the shop with it

Greg moved to the island right after college and carved out a living as the pilot of a DDS and as a often National Geographic published U W photographer -- and his work was worthy of the magazine ''

My wife and I connected with Bas in February 2019 and managed to catch a dive at Cai and then a second one at Boka Onima. Both dives were great. The giant stride at Boka Onima was a new adventure for sure. His services are well worth the money and I'd recommend him to any experienced diver looking for something new on Bonaire.

Great post! You may not be aware that your post's title is true in more ways than you know.....the "other" Bas on Bonaire, Bas Noij, is also great, and is the boss at VIP Diving. You can't go wrong with either Bas. And you can't go wrong with Bonaire. I'll be making my 32nd trip there next year, over 19 years.

VIP is great! We dove with them in September; excellent CS and highly recommended from us as well. Wish we were there now!

Heading to bonaire in a couple weeks. This will be our 2nd trip. We would love to do the east side of the island but i only have about 40 dives under my belt. Would you recommend more experience first ? Thanks for the insight.

I am confused about the dive entry/exit?
Is it a drift dive and do you exit at a different spot? Or do you scale the mighty giant stride cliff?

Giant stride entry from cliff allows you to avoid fighting the current out from the sandy beach. On the way in you work with the current and wave action to exit the sandy beach. Saves a lot of air and makes for a longer dive.

random question since you were just there. Is this the 2019 marine park badge. We went over the new years, but cant remember if we got 2018 or 2019 badges. It would save us some dollars if it is still valid in June. The piece of paper we get has never survived a trip so I cant check that.

That's for 2019 so you should be good to go. We were there in December and had one for 2018, went back in February and had to buy another. We plan on two more trips this year so we'll get out money's worth out of it.
