Nothing against helium dive backplates but I just couldn't spend that much for a titanium backplate and to ship it from Russia, so I decided to make my own. Its amazing what one can do with a sheet of titanium, a father in-law with a machine shop company, with a lazar cutting table, hydraulic bender, and about everything else imaginable. Had a successful day finishing my 2 titanium backplates (one standard and one ultra light), and adding weight pocket slots to my hollis backplate. Thoughts? Possible changes if I did it again?

So what do they weigh?

I've been seriously looking at making an ultralight BPW setup.

Pretty cool. How much do they weigh? How much $ do you have in the titanium? How did you attach the weight pocket? This is what I did to add weight pockets to my new Halcyon Carbon Fiber plate ( piece of old webbing, 2 ss grommets, 2 sex bolts ). Plate weighs 1lb.

130ish with shipping. regular one weighs 2 pounds, lightweight one weighs 1.5 pounds. I also had enough titanium to make a single tank adapter I didn't weigh it though. Weight pockets are dive rite Velcro, the straps slip through the slots in the backplate and Velcro together. Very nice idea how you attached your weight pockets, kind of wish I'd though of that.

Now grab some 9v batteries, a few wires, and some steel wool soaked in white vinegar and you can anodize it all kinds of pretty colors

This ^^^ sounds like an interesting idea for a new thread. Could you indulge us? Pictures and a list of components are always a good touch. :)
