It has been my custom, upon finding a discussion turning into a scrum, to send in a lighthearted limerick, like a Literary Fritillary.
There is considerable craft in these simple Messages of Mockery.
Too often these Butterflies have gotten zapped in the Zeal of Moderators removing all but the driest of informative comments.

My proposal is that the Mods might consider simply moving the whole thread to the pub, under the heading, (Take it Outside Yah Yobs!) or something similar.
Thoughts?

More often than not, your attempts at levity only serve to further derail the threads they are in. We get that it's "Mockery" and that goes against the Spirit of friendly discourse. If only you would use your "considerable craft" in being helpful and keeping threads on topic.

I've enjoyed reading them. Kind of surprised to hear some were deleted as the ones I saw I thought were tongue-in-cheek and didn't seem designed to offend or derail ...

By the time i post a limerick, the thread has already gone off the rails, but ok. I will try to be more...

Every thread has a "Report" button. Don't wait for the train wreck to hit it. If you see early signs, or a thread is starting to go off topic, hit that report button and alert us to the impending doom.

There's a fine, fine line between keeping things friendly and being so heavy handed that we cease to be relevant. Mods are not patrolling the Board looking to write Off Topic tickets. We're actually waiting for users to report problematic posts. Yes, we rely on you, the end user, to let us know your boundaries by using the Report feature when things are going sideways. We can't see things from your perspective unless you clue us in. You perspective is unique, just like everyone else's in the world and we want to make SB a safe haven for everyone. We can't do that without your help via your input.

We do this for several reasons, some I've already mentioned, but I love lists.
  • Mods are users first
  • We tend to be overly sensitive to some people
    • Especially them thar limerick writers! :D :D :D
  • We can easily miss a regional insult
  • This is YOUR Board
    • You should have a say
    • You should want a say

Exactly! We leave the good ones and remove the mocking ones.

Perhaps, or perhaps not.
That small thing called timing!!

You're from MA?

Oh the possibilities :)

There was a man from Nantucket...

OK I'm ducking and running.
