Do you download your dive computer data?

Hi all,

I'm using the words carefully, not saying 'log' or 'record' because they could have multiple meanings.

I'm curious how many people capture and save data from their dive computer.

Sometimes. I was really interested in it for a bit, but I lost interest in short order.

I would love to.... but wasn't paying $85 for a proprietary Suunto cable.

My next computer (leaning AL i300c) will be Bluetooth capable.

My palm pilot is crammed full of dives from our uwatec Aladin's. Good thing I still have an XP machine to download the Palm pilot.

Someday REAL SOON NOW I need to find a replacement for the Palm Pilot.

I download all log data from my computer all of the time. I may not do it immediately after the end of the diving day, but it does get done within a week after the dive.

It is one of the best dive computers without AI for the recreational diver at a very reasonable price.

(I love the Bluetooth connection on my dive computer, Ratio, since it makes it even easier to download the data than with a physical data cable.)

I don’t particularly care for your poll choices so I refrained from casting my vote but that much being said I download my dives into my Subsurface digital logbook regularly and have not failed to log a dive yet. I’ve got over 400 dives logged.

I enjoy doing it, I like having a journal of my dive, it can be useful if I’m considering going back to a place I’ve been before, and is quite useful in tracking my weighting with various equipment configurations.

Sometimes it comes in handy when a fellow SB member asks about a particular dive site.

It’s also pretty cool to see more and more dive flags appear on the Subsurface world map built into the logbook.

Can't say I'm a fan of the poll options - why will someone die die die if they don't download their dive computer data? It's not like they're split fins/jacket BCDs/octo-inflators...

However, I do download all of my dives into MacDive, which I use as my primary dive log. It's nice to see stats like my RMV that aren't calculated natively on my Teric, and the picture importing functionality is pretty nifty as well.

I do still maintain a paper logbook as well that I keep with my C* cards, so that I have something I can easily hand to particularly paranoid DMs when they want proof of experience.

I didn't with my Suunto for the same reason above ($85 for a USB cable is heresy!!

Now that I have my Perdix, I love looking at my dive profile. I wish a couple of more pieces of information were automatic, though. I will need to look at them again to see what could be autofilled.

Edit: I guess what I would like to see auto transferred is the Nitrox information, including the percentage of O2.
