I had the same problem in March of 2017 and my dive shop replaced it.

Fast forward to today and here we are again!
-dive log vanished and says none yet
-time is running slow
-it won’t turn off

I know the company has a 2 year limited warentee program so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn’t become a costly experience...

Okay... so... I went to my shop and they told me that AquaLung released a software update to address this glitch. They are going to update it and hopefully the issue will he fixed... Fingers crossed!!!

I returned the second one and went with Suunto.

So the update helped some of the problem but not all of it. Apparently is is now turning on sporadically and not turning off. Luckily my LDS is AMAZING and working with me on this... Still not sure what the final outcome will be...

I have a 4 month old i550. I have 18 dives with it. Noticed after last dive (3 weeks ago) that it seemed to take a long time to turn off but I didn't pay much attention to it until I went to test my gear yesterday before leaving on a two week dive trip (in a week) and found the unit dead. The battery was shot so I bought a new battery and installed it. Booted just fine but then it went into this Surface Interval / reboot cycle described earlier. It counts a surface interval up to two hours and then reboots. I have hooked the unit to a tank of air and it responds properly to tank pressure. I have downloaded dives to DiverLog with no problems. But today I noticed that the clock had run 2 hours slow over the past 20 hours. I need some advice from someone with experience and / or knowledge. Is the unit safe to use for diving? We are doing a two tank dive one morning, then off the next day, then another two tank dive, then off for two days, then repeat so I really don't care too much about the "safe to fly" because we will be done diving two days before flights. I am mainly concerned about general functionality while diving. Thoughts? I cannot believe there isn't a master reset capability with this device. You would think that if you took the battery out for 24 or 48 hours it would reset itself. Thanks

Can you update me as I have the same issues and live in Mexico so getting it serviced is a pain. Is there an online update I can do to the unit to see if that fixes the problem?

Is it the i550 with the download cable, or the Bluetooth i550c?
If the former and it does not have the current firmware, that may solve at least some of the issue. Info seems to be missing from the support site, but I think latest is version D.
Also try soaking it for a bit while installed and pressurized in case you have some salt crusting any sensors. Just do NOT blow it dry with compressed air.

I have the quick release cable. When I checked my software (I think when I was using DiverLog) it said I had the most current version. I will try soaking while pressurized and see what happens. Others have said to blow sensor with compressed air (the opposite of what you suggested) but I have no idea where the sensor is. I am not overly optimistic that this will solve the problem though because it now is running 5 minutes slow every hour. Sounds to me like a software failure.

Sounding like you may have an issue for warranty work.
Compressed air is very effective, right up to the point where you can damage a pressure sensor.
Quick release sounds like you are describing the hose, not the download link method. Time drift was one of the past firmware fixes, but it sounds like you are up to date regardless of which version it is.

I am sorry. I have the cable for the download link. I am going to call Aqualung tomorrow and see if there is anything that can be done online although my LDS has already said they will send me a new unit to where I will be diving. Thanks for your help and thoughts. I will post whatever I find from Aqualung so others can benefit from my misery! :)
