or is it time for this life long aqualung/apex customer to move on to a new vendor?
If you do switch manufacturers, the situation is the similar with Scubapro. Basically, the free parts for life program are completely at the discretion of your dive shop. Unless you decide to lawyer up, that is... but I'd bet you'll need that receipt if you do... and a lawyer will probably cost way more. But it would probably feel pretty great.

I believe the PFL program with Scubapro is not only service intervals but you have to buy a computer, reg, and BC to qualify - if I remember correctly.

Ah yes, I guess I forgot they added all those requirements.

I get the occasional part for Apeks regs from deepstop.de who has them in stock, and will ship worldwide.
Apeks 1st stage kits are 28 euros
Apeks 2nd stage kits are 13 euros
Apeks conversion kits for the 5th LP port are 34 euros

Prices include 19% german sales taxes which if ordering from outside of the EU, you won't have to pay, and shipping for a padded envelope or small box from Germany isn't expensive either.

Since I have a good working relationship with my local O-Ring shop, I usually just buy the O-Rings that I want to replace and rarely have to buy a service kit.

Or call them @ (760) 597-5000.

Don't be surprised if they answer, "Aqualung".

You should be in their database. Ask them to notify the dive shop for you.

I purchased an apex regulator in 2009 from my local shop and have had it serviced there yearly, getting free parts. The owner retired and closed the shop. Unfortunately, I cannot find the original receipt and the owner does not have the records but he did register the product online for me. I have receipts from 2012 through 2018 which all show free warranty parts. The new shop that is servicing my gear says that they will not give me the free parts without the original receipt. Is there anything to be done about this or is it time for this life long aqualung/apex customer to move on to a new vendor?

What did you end up doing?

Great question
