Wife and i, avid divers, love Cozumel and after bragging about it 4 non diver family members would like to go. Past experiences with taking non divers has not been stellar. One couple wants a beach, we would like close to town. All inclusive is not wanted.one couple wants to rent a jeep and explore. Residential has the beach but a long way from town. We love El Cantil but not much of a beach. Is there any middle ground we all may be happy at? We Will be at Blue Angel in 142 hours so pls give us some suggestions. Thanks Bill

Take them, drown them, and enjoy the rest of your vacation. Just joking. Why are you planning a vacation with this mix????? Why not go and have a wonderful, stress free time, and do something with the others that is in their comfort zone?

My wife and I are non-divers. We've been coming to Cozumel for about 12 years now, always with a group of friends & relatives...anywhere from 4 to 10 other people.

Two of those years we've had divers with us. Was never a problem. We'd usually drop them off where they needed to be, and either pick them up at an appointed time, or they'd cab it back to the house (usually in the Corpus Christi neighborhood). We'd meet for dinner after the dives.

No judgement here, but I'm certainly curious. May I ask why you hang around a SCUBA message board online and travel to a destination regularly that is largely known as a dive destination if you don't dive?

I can't imagine I'd ever join and post on a knitting message board being that I don't knit.

I luv Coz diving, but I disagree it's "largely known" as a dive destination. People have been coming to Coz for years for fun in the sun, fishing, other watersports, food scene, etc. etc.. It might be known for diving by divers, but that's a small subset of the vacationing public. As far as hanging out on ScubaBoard, there are snorkelers, cruisers, friends of divers, and those that might someday be interested. I believe all are welcome. :) All IMHO, YMMV.

I think it's fair to say that a rather large number of Tripadviser members that frequent the Cozumel Forum are not divers. They seem to find things to do there that draws them back more than once. .

Take care about booking Casa Del Mar. They have opened the Del Mar Latino beach club on their waterfront that is geared to the cruise ship crowd. I have seen complaints about it from guests at the hotel. When I last looked on the hotel website, there is no mention of it.

Thanks for the replies! My first thought was to stay in town and travel to a beach. I tossed out to the wife hotel cozumel, she threw a salt shaker at me-- we had a horrible experience there 3 years ago and almost made us never return to Cozumel, yes it was that bad. Both of the other 2 couples that went with us refuse to consider Cozumel again. We will look at ur suggestions in a few days. We have grown to love it so much we consider retiring there. Hope we can find a happy medium. Thanks B

FWIW, I have been going to Cozumel since 1978, but I have "only" been diving since 1994. I have been going there with a group of friends and family every April or May since the mid 1980's (last year there were 18 of us) and my wife and I are the only divers. The rest all seem to find ways to amuse themselves.

Could you maybe post some examples of what they do? I often find myself pretty bored in the afternoons after I've stuffed a bunch of tacos and beers down my neck.
