Please advice.

Our group has booked scuba-diving trip Majestic Explorer in August 2019. Our group are from Bangkok, Thailand which we have to take more than 30 hours flights. Now we don't know what to do with the trip since we bought and booked all flights and hotels related to this trip and they are fixed dates and non-refundable.

Have you contacted Explorer? They should help your group find spots on other boats although your group may have to split up.

This liveaboard broker is advertising spots on other LOBs in the area at that time, if Explorer refunds your money quickly you could transfer to one of these vessels.

Sad Loss of MAJESTIC - GPS spaces available

So sorry that your dream trip was hit hard.

The processes are very complicated. We are from Bangkok, Thailand and we have to contact via Thai agent, and Thai agent has to contact another agent to be in touch with Majestic. It's a very long communications. Plus, the time differences of America and Asia are totally different which get only one email reply per day.

We are trying very hard to contact another boat and hope that we have some lucks to be able to get on that boat. Finger crossed!

Genuinely sorry to hear about your situation. We are just back from diving in Galapagos, we did 1 week on the Aggressor and 3 days with Nauti diving. Obviously I would recommend that you try to get on a live aboard, however if its impossible and the flights are non refundable I would advise you to try to do land based diving with Nauti diving. I would honestly say the diving was well worth the trip just for the land based. I got better shots of hammerheads at Gordon rocks than I did at Wolf. We saw a school of mobulas in the thousands at North Seymour, along with many other things. Nauti seems to have the biggest day boat and the guides were fab. Best of luck getting a live aboard but don't despair the land based can be exceptional.

Thank you for your suggestion. Doing day trips would be one of the option, but the highlight of Galapagos is Darwin and Wolf. We will try to contact Majestic and let's see what's their options. It's a heart-breaking moment to know that the trip planned is falling apart.

I don't think anyone on this thread was really concerned. Everyone was ok, so at the end of the day that's what matters most. I do wonder if anyone was able to save their gear / luggage. I would typically bring over 20k worth of gear on a trip like this; so it would be rather heart breaking to lose all that stuff... And I also find this specific topic interesting due to the fact that I almost booked a June 1st departure as they were running a $2,000 off regular rate special (so I was especially thankful I wasn't sitting in the Ecuador airport right now).

I was wondering the same thing, did they lose all their dive gear and luggage?
