I’m a bit of a knife and knife steel snob and am amazed at the lack of what I consider decent dive knives.

A knife should cut and hold an edge. Titanium is a very poor material for a knife, it is usually too soft, brittle and doesn’t sharpen well or hold an edge.

I believe some enterprising company would make a killing if they produced a useful dive knife using LC200N steel. There are some decent H1 steel knives but the ones I have seen are generally boring or a poor design.

This is actually very true state. A knife enthusiastist will know this. The only real advantage is corrosion resistance if neglected. But my cut off Ikea steak knife after 4 years hasn't shown rust either with minimal rinsing. Well another advantage is telling people you have something titanium.

What is the official dedicated sheath for Ocean Master Beta Titanium knife ?

SDM

:-D That's a damn good question Sam. I found the knife stuck in a reef-obviously the sheath was no where around. Funny thing is, when I looked up how much this expensive knife cost (about $130 at the time) the advertisement was making a big deal about how secure the sheath was. Paraphrasing here, "....you won't loose this knife."

@couv
Amazing how many dive knives are planted for others to find.
I have, as I stated a plastic box of dive knives, knives...some with sheaths, some with out sheaths and some spare sheaths that fit nothing in the collection
I have many times questioned who lost them and why did they lose them ?
I have my suspicions and it relates to dive training

When you finish your certification at Monterey and have made a dive or two maybe you can enlighten the dive world just what is a "decent dive knife."

Snarky aren't we......Noted.

Mainly looking to use it to kill lionfish on the tip of my spear in order to cut the spines and bag it. So my current blunt tip isn’t useful in this regard and the extra length helps to navigate around the spines to get to the back of the head for a cleaner kill.

I’ve been fortunate to have the same diving knife I purchased with my original gear. It’s titanium and has held up well over the years. But after watching a dive vet spear and despine a lionfish here in Florida, I realized I needed the equipment change to be safer and more efficient. Ironically, he was using a Buck knife... which apparently is far more than I’m willing to spend. :)
