A quick question for D6 Signature first stage users- the turret end looks to be only slightly longer than the diaphragm end of the first stage so do you use it (single tank) with the turret inverted or upright?

I use primary donate with my primary routed under my arm, so the turret goes down and canted to my right with my primary hose coming out the end. My necklaced secondary hose still has a good range of turret rotation available, likely about 60 degrees before it or the LP inflator hit the tank. More than enough to be where I want them. But LP goes left, secondary right.... It seems my wing is more in the way of rotation than the tank. No tank in front of me for more exact rotation.

It's really just a personal choice. With the turret up there is more rotation available but how much do you need. Decide for yourself which you prefer.

It's just a nice visual cue. I didn't know it was a feature, asked about it, and was told it was, and not something wrong with my first stage.
I mainly watch it after closing the valve and seeing if I purged the second stages enough, after a dive. I've seen people close their valves, not purge enough and get a "pop" upon disconnecting their first stage. They purged, just not enough.

The Signature first stage is a diaphragm but looks more like a piston with a turret (like the mk5/10/20/25 Scubapro's etc), usually with these piston units the turret is a bit high and hits the back of the head so people tend to use them with the turret downwards. The Signature looks tome like there would not be much difference whichever way it was positioned and if I have a choice I prefer turret up!
I am looking at maybe the D6 Signature or the Hog DX1 (Apeks DST clone) and prefer the specs of the D6 but like the hose routing of the DX1.

I use primary donate as well, does not cause any problems for me with the turret up. I also often run a 19cf Pony with a 2nd reg set on the right. When I do that I stuff my backgas alt in a pocket and put the pony reg on the necklace, the fully rotating turret makes this fit a little better.
But as others have mentioned it can work either way, play with it to choose which way works for you. Depending on which way you choose you may also have to play with the position of your tank. When I switched to the Deep6 signature from a smaller travel 1st stage (Cressi MC9) I had to move the tank down on the BC a little to keep my head from bumping it when lifted up and in trim.
