I have a friend that has just become OW certified and is now starting to purchase gear. He has asked me about the following torch but unfortunately I have no experience with it. Has anyone purchased this product and have any comments?

I have not, but I wouldn't have high expectations of a light that comes with all that stuff while being so cheap. OTOH, its cheap so they don’t lose much by trying it (as long as they’re not in a light critical situation.)

The product info makes me wonder if someone just decided to sell a “100m waterproof light” for diving that doesn’t really have any idea about dive lights. Further down in the specs it says “working depth underwater” is 100cm. Which is maybe a typo, or maybe not. I wonder what a “reverse clicky switch” is. I haven’t seen a switch like that on a UW light.

That is the same light I bought and it failed at the second turn on. POS. The seller gave me the run-around until all periods for return had expired. EBay finally interceded after many months and gave me my money back. The seller is still selling. Run away, run like the wind.

@Zef from what I remember from previous threads on cheap Chinese lights, is that the O-rings need to be replaced with quality ones. Also the accessories are largely junk. I would recommend your friend to check out lights from DRIS, Piranha, DGX, Divers Supply, or LeisurePro. Each has some inexpensive lights.

Thanks...unfortunately he is very budget conscious and it is easier for me to point to other's experience with the product to sway him towards something that will work better/work longer.

i bought a similar 20 dollar ebay light. replaced the orings and dove it till the switch died. got about 150 to 200 dives out of it. if i can figure out a replacement for the switch, i could probably repair it. it wasn't as bright as the dgx 600 iirc.

Yes I bought that just to try. VERY low quality It passed a bucket test but the provided orings are garbage with unevenness and injection mold ridges. I put in the best one between the installed and spare. I fully expect this to flod and dies within a few dives.

They would be much better of buying a dgx mini or dgx 600. About 3 times as much but it will last. I am trialing a few lights and may have an option to offer soon. It wont be at that pricepoint though.

They work. Come in different brand names. Certainly are not 5000 lumen but are fine for recreational diving. The battery may be lame, or OK, and the charger merely adequate, or worse. O-rings on mine are OK. Would not be surprised at differences in quality. The actual LED may be something different than advertised as one of mine is distinctly different than the others. This is completely typical of this kind of light in this price range.
It's what I take on tropical vacations, with 26650 and a MUCH better charger, and I do take a spare.

If you are willing to 2-3x the price you can get much better units.
