Deep 6 16lb Removable Weights Question?

I bought these last year;
7.25kg/16lb Removable Weight Pockets

I like them, I still think I'm searching for that right spot but it seems like every time I dive local it's 100F and my brain is just screaming "get in the ******** water". Too hot to be messing with placement.

Anyway, the only issue that I have is the D ring on the side. It lays flat to the pouch and when I go to clip something to it I find it almost impossible to get it on. It takes me a few tries and I'm always second guessing if I have it right. I haven't dropped anything yet, but I'm sure the day will come, lol. Such a pain w/5mm gloves on. When I switch everything to warm water and remove these pouches my other D ring sticks out and is 100 times easier to clip (of course no gloves so that helps).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, maybe I'm just green and need more practice? Looking for some guidance. Thanks!

I would say swap for bent D rings, but looking closer it looks like they can't be removed. I don't own the set so I can't say for sure.

I agree. On my warm water setup the D rings are tight enough that they stick out (with stiff webbing). It would make life easier if these did the same....it's the little things you know. I just didn't know if anyone had suggestions on how to get these to stick out, I'd be good.

A large (cylinder type) O ring rolled over will pinch the webbing where it meets the D ring. That should help it sit proud rather than flush.

Or, if you don't want it to stick straight out and just sit off a little, you could take a length of bungee cord, thread it through the loop of the webbing (like a bungee loop used to hold the inflator hose in place), but make the bungee loop tight against the webbing, like the red line in the attached pic. This should keep the D ring elevated just a bit off the webbing.

Local hardware store has a huge selection of cheap o rings. I'll go and report back today. Thanks!

@Graeme Fraser how long do the o rings last before they need replacing in your experience? (Wondering how many I should buy / keep in my save a dive kit)
