I know Kansas, grew up there. Sounds like travel is in the game plan for you. Considering the Kansas dive options, sounds like travel is a good game plan.

You are going to Springfield (unless Midwest has moved in the past 20+ years), so at least you have access to some good semi-local diving.

What part of Kansas are you in? Guessing Eastern. KC is the big population spot but if your first dive shop is in Springfield you might be down in Pittsburg. That would make more sense for taking classes where you are taking them at. Just guessing anyway.

There is much travel planned, but that is from my wife. I would like to do more lake dives around Kansas area, but she loves to travel. No, Midwest Aquatics is in Overland Park, right off 69 and 159th street. They go to Table Rock lake for certification, but pool time is right at their location.

I am in south eastern kansas. about an hour or so south of KC.

I am also new here. Greetings from a fellow Kansan! I grew up in the southwest corner of the Sunflower State. It sounds like you are off to a good start. Let us know how your dives go.
Thank you - I will.

Yes, i know exactly where Paola is. Used to do "travelling" work in eastern kansas in years gone by. I will shoot you a PM.

I would like to do more lake dives around Kansas area,

Beaver Lake in Arkansas (just up stream from Tablerock) has a decent Scuba park near the damn. Look up C and J Sports in Eureka Springs.

Let me know if you find any local lakes to dive. I am in Wichita and would like to find somewhere closer than Tablerock or Beaver for a quick diving getaway.

I am going to Lake Wilson with the local dive club for a scouting trip in a couple weeks. There are a lot of reservoirs in Kansas, some of them have to be somewhat diveable.

It's been 20 years since I lived there. Now that you mention it I remember that Midwest Aquatics. I drove 69 a lot, going to school down in Pittsburg. Grew up in the North end of Johnson county.
I have been through Paola, can't say I did anything in that town besides just drive through it.

Even longer ago there was a scuba park in Kansas. It was an old Limestone quarry that was used in the construction of I-35. I believe it closed before I left town. I might still have a hand drawn map of how to get there. Around Gardener? Only dove it for my checkout.
