If any of you are members of Amazon Prime, there's a feature movie: BLUE ANGELS - Around the World at the Speed of Sound. You get to watch the whole process about how the pilots work together on their EXACT timing, even after working hours and during sleep. Well worth a watch.

Count me in as an airshow junkie. I volunteer at my local airshow, providing first aid. I also flew to the Bagotville airshow this year to see the F35 with my DA20-C1. I have also visited several aerospace museums, including both Smithsonians in Washington DC, and I own a ton of books on aviation, my favorite topic being WWII.
Sadly I don’t ride my Ninja 1000 motorcycle now that I own an airplane.

My Piper is tied down at outside at 06C/Schaumburg right now. Kim and I had a trip planned today. My recently certified OW diver niece is stuck in ATL trying to get here as well. Weather is not cooperating for many people here today.
I agree with the Blues over Birds. When the Blues had A-4's in the 80's they used to fly between the buildings... Not allowed to do that anymore!
I really miss the Tomcats display. VF-101 Grim Reapers with that plane put on an amazingly loud, fast show that really impressed me. We sometimes go out on our boat to watch, amazing view. In the 90's, we had an F-14 perform a turn about a point right over the top of us, full afterburner... Loud!!!!

During and after Korea I was stationed at Luke AFB -- formerly Thunderbird field in WW11when the Thunderbirds were created.. I knew a number of them.
When the F-100 came into service the Thunderbirds were transferred to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas.
In 1958 my late brother in law Capt. Ken Chandler flew and won the Bendix cross country air race . There is a great book about the Bendix "They flew the Bendix" which includes Ken's flame out on landing in DC.
Our family no longer attend's air shows

I served just over 30 years in the RCAF, almost all of it in the "Fighter Community". I was an "Air Weapons Controller" (AWC). I sat at a computer that took radar feeds from all across the country and fused it all onto a single display. If any aircraft did something wrong, my job was to scramble the fighter to intercept the aircraft in question. Another (junior) AWC in the "Weapons Team" would then control the intercept giving the fighter pilot all of the information he needs to fly the intercept.
Having a fascination with "fast air" seemed to be an occupational hazard.
Here are a couple of my shots:

If you really want to see an airshow though, the best I have ever seen hands down is a section of R-2508 Low Level Training Route in Death Valley National Park that is affectionately known as the "Jedi Transition". I had the opportunity to spend 2 days there in March 2019. Unfortunately, due to a crash which resulted in the loss of a USN F/A18E and its pilot and the injury of 7 spectators, Flight Ops through the Jedi Transition have been suspended until further notice.

I just picked up a lens that should work very nicely for airshows - a Sony 200-600mm lens. The first chance I will have to shoot an airshow with it will be Toronto on Labour Day weekend. (Looking forward to shooting the RAF Red Arrows.)

@Prop Joe and @HKGuns by far, the loudest jet that I have ever heard was in the 1970s and 1980s, when the RAF would fly the Vulcan Bomber over to perform at the Toronto airshow. There was a point in its routine in which it would do a high speed pass followed by a max performance turn. As it turned away from the crowd, you could actually feel the pressure waves from the engine noise vibrating in your chest cavity. Talk about the sound of freedom!
Done Oshkosh about 25 times, 10 in my own homebuilts, but now trying to figure out how to combine the trip from PNW to OSH with some Great Lakes diving.
