Mask and wrist mounts make very poor footage, they are incredibly unstable. (You never realize how much you move your head until you watch it)
If you want a Go- Pro get it on a simple extension pole or tray.
First make sure you have good control of your buoyancy and awareness of your surroundings, ive seen too many new divers drop like a brick or decimate the corals the second they take their go-pro out because they forget to focus on buoyancy and they have little to no awareness of their surroundings.
Once you are comfortable in the water and have good control of your buoyancy it will come naturally so you will be able to just enjoy the dive and video with out a hassle.
Wow I am blind. I legit did no even see the clear platform and just thought you meant the platform on the bottom of the gopro lol. Sorry! If you look at the platform there are two handles each side. One hand on each. The platform is like a wing so it glides under water and you also it does not tilt like your hand can. So it's easy to keep it stable. Another thing is that it is very light so I can set it down and let it take video. Take a look at the platform again. I also have a macro lens as well I can swap out the red filter as they both are tied onto the light mounts and cannot be lost.
Here is a photo a friend of mine took of me taking a video. You can see how I hold the platform and I don't need to be looking at the Go Pro video screen as I use it so much I know where it is filming.
If we're going to share personal experiences, let me add mine.I recall being at the point in my diving where I had done roughly 200 dives, earned certifications up to PADI Rescue level, and felt very confident in my abilities. I hadn't acquired a camera yet, not because I didn't feel ready, but because I wasn't interested in photography then. However, it was around that time that I actually started feeling LESS confident in my abilities, because I found myself raising the standards to which I held myself. This was partly a result of taking more intense courses (e.g., GUE Fundamentals), and partly a result of reading here on SB and diving with some very skilled divers. I decided I still wasn't quite ready to hold something in my hands continuously throughout a dive, when my hands might be needed in an instant to donate air to a buddy, for example
Did you forget your light which was almost destroying the coral ?
