New to the boards and new to SCUBA.

I'm from the Gulf Coast, south Alabama specifically. Just started PADI training to get into scuba. Learning lots lurking here already.

My wife is a travel agent so we go on a lot of trips. Rather be in the water, then wait, while she's in a conference. Currently do a lot of snorkeling on those trips so I figure it is time to upgrade.

Welcome to SB. We've spent some winter months on the panhandle, Miss. & Ala. Perdido Pass just W. of the FL border is an OK shore dive, though a bit of a walk and rough entry down the jetty.

Welcome. There's a lot of diving to be done in many destinations. I think you'll love it.

Richard.

Very cool. I am in Mobile so right on the water we visit Dauphin Island often and there are some interesting places around there supposedly. I hope to find out soon enough. Will definitely try Perdido thanks.

We "snowbirded" on Dauphin I. in 2015. No shore diving there that's worth spit. Mobile Bay is the cutoff. East of there & into FL there is clear water. W. of there to at least N.O. no depth, mud & usually poor viz. Has to do with the Miss. River, Miss. Sound, and the 5 rivers that empty into Mobile Bay. Maybe that's where the Dixieland tune "Mississippi Mud" came from.
I did take a charter out of Gauthier, Miss. in 2012 which was excellent, but very costly because of the gas needed to get out of the Sound. We actually dived off Gulf Shores, AL.

What a great opportunity. You could even help her on reviews of the diving opportunities. Welcome to ScubaBoard!

Morrison Springs is awesome.

Did they ever replace the sign that was stolen (I guess) in '07 or so that warned of alligators in Morrison?

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Tripp she already has the whole family offering reviews lol. We travel a lot and she most assuredly uses us for first hand reviews.
