You confuse a divers commitment to conserve the oceans with conforming to a set of political views. I would think one would look for common ground rather than making inflamatory comments about those divers.

I personally don't see climate change as a partisan issue. It's something that's happening that everyone should be concerned about. And I don't see anyone else pulling the punches on inflammatory comments, so perhaps that advice should be directed at both sides of this conversation.

7 Big Failed Environmentalist Predictions

To follow up with @tursiops's comment, there is indeed so much wrong with this list. For example, it quotes a report from Life magazine. Since when was that ever an authority on science? Under the global warming section is say the earth's temps have been flat since 1998. There was a little flat spot in the late 90s and again in the 2000s, but the temperature has clearly not remained flat since 1998.

And yes, we are seeing a 6th mass extinction event. These events are not just based on individual species losses (measured on isolated islands), but relative to historic background rates. The science is clear.

More nonsense. You are confusing uniformed and wild projections made by individuals, many of whom are not specialists, with the considered consensus of 98% of the scientists who actually know something about this. For example, there never was a hiatus in global warming.....it kept happening but was concentrated in ocean temperatures. Your earlier comment on climate change causing hurricanes was silly, no one reputable has said that. Just because you read it somewhere does not make it true. Your comment about ocean acidification being part of a scam is a lie promulgated by the gullible.

Most of the predictions made by these individuals were backed up by the same "scholars" you claim have accurate data.

I am not here to change your mind, you are obviously a member of the cult and are free to believe what you want, as am I.

Cool, so you linked a video made by a climate change skeptic known for advertising bad science whose website is full of conspiracy theory 'proof' and isn't peer reviewed like pretty much all scientific papers should be to be verified. By the way, those verified scientific papers include data on climate change.

If you've never heard the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf, just because earlier predictions weren't exactly right is no reason to not pay attention to updated findings and better models. A model is only as good as the data that was put into it, and there is more and more accurate data going into current models than there was going into past models.

And yes, you are free to believe what you will, but science is not a religion and does not require belief. It requires critical thinking. I don't have a problem with anyone's beliefs so long as they don't hurt that person or anyone else, and it can be argued that the beliefs of climate change skeptics and 'but the older models were wrong, hurr durr!!' crowd are harming everyone else because they're getting in the way of conservation and global change. Considering that the changes proposed by the 'climate change cult' are healthier diets, less trash, and clean energy, I wonder if skeptics are just afraid of making a better world for nothing.

I am not here to change your mind, you are obviously a member of the climate denier cult and are free to believe what you want, as am I.

I'm afraid "belief" does not trump evidence.

Bwuahahaha lol, lol, hahaha....

And that's as nice as I can be. Might want to read what NASA said about global warming this week.

Temp change is cyclical.
You're right, climate change is cyclical and proof of that is very well recorded through ice cores and other measurements. If you'd actually look at the cyclical data though, you'd see that right now, the Earth is supposed to be in a cooling phase. Instead, we are experiencing consistently warmer temperatures than any other cooling phase and temperatures that are changing at a rate faster than any other time.

I personally don't see climate change as a partisan issue.

And yet it is. Redistribution of wealth is always a partisan issue, and at this time it is being done, in some countries, in the name of global warming.

Pot meet Kettle (I am old enough to remember the Ice Age predictions in the 70's)

In addition to being a cult, it is child abuse. Notice how they prey on the young? If a parent did this sort of brainwashing they'd call in CPS.

7 Big Failed Environmentalist Predictions

Analysis: How well have climate models projected global warming? | Carbon Brief

It looks like even early 70s predictions for 2000 were pretty close.

The various attacks on renewables are rubbish too. Today in the U.K. (an accidental low CO2 pioneer due to Maggie picking a fight with coal unions) 20% of electricity is genuinely renewable, 10% biofuels and another 20 odd nuclear. New renewable contracts are half the price per kWh of nuclear.

Meanwhile most of the world, including China, is at least trying and acknowledges the problem.

Recently it was revealed that in the UK 10% of people are responsible for half the flights and half the people have not taken a flight in the last year. When people claim that the planet cannot support 8 bn people they forget that it can easily support them with emissions of 1.6t of co2 per year, but not 16.2t of co2 per year. Time to take a look at the actual source of the pollution and fix that, it is a much smaller job that way.
