Scubapro Heart Rate Monitor

I came back from a dive trip to Cabo so I can report on my discouraging result with the HR monitor. I wore it under a 3/2 mm wetsuit for the ten dives and the monitor kept cutting in and out but mostly out. Typically I would look at the computer and saw the dashes in the HR section of the G2. I tried different maneuvers like pressing the contacts to my chest and holding the G2 next to the HR transmitter and occasionally it would temporarily help and I'd get a reading only to disappear a minute later. The bottom line is that on most of my dive there is no HR signal in spite of the fact that I spent a lot of time struggling with it, which is a stupid distraction when diving. And yes I recently changed the battery and tightened the elastic belt on my chest.

I'm going to invoke my warranty and ask ScubaPro to address this.

Looks like my G2 is out of warranty so I'm going to try to order a new HR transmitter belt.

I would recommend you ask Scubapro for a new belt under warranty since it wasn't working properly when it was in warranty! You would hope that the any new belts manufactured would have addressed this issue. BTW, do these belts have a serial number?

Thanks for the suggestion. It's interesting that for the new Galileos the belt is the same as for the G2 so I wonder if the new Galileo owners are having the same issue. It's possible they updated the belt, hopefully so that the problem is not with the wrist unit.

Hi all, (thanks for directing me to this post @CandiveOz )

I have attempted one dive with the SP HRM that came with the M2. I have also attempted multiple 'tests' to see how the HRM will work on land (wetting the back of the strap)

• One of the issues I have is how vague the manual is regarding it's use - I even went to the Polar website to seek more advice. (Unless it is just so easy that you put it on and it works all the time)
• Another issue I have found is any information that explains what I can expect to see on the M2, to indicate the HRM is working.... where is the feedback that tells me it is connected?

During a dive, how do I know the HRM is working? (I don't have the hardware/software to connect the M2 to the computer to see this after a dive)

On land/pool, when I goto the "SPORT" mode, is the " - - hr " read out meant to feedback what my heart rate is? - if so, I have had no success for this working.

Does anyone have other advice for me to see if this is working?

I have a friend who has a sports watch that can apparently pick up on signals of many types of HRMs, so maybe they can at least tell me if it is working?!

Two things to consider. First ensure Workload is set for Heart Rate in the settings. Second, replace the battery in the Heart Rate Monitor (even if the unit is new). The new Scubapro Heart Rate belts seem to drain the battery much faster than the older Polar T31 which is a completely sealed unit and came with the Galileo Sol.

To update on my HR monitor problem. I opened the battery door and reinstalled it. I found that the battery door was not oriented properly when closed. The slot has to be parallel to the band, with the small triangle on the battery door pointing to the circle on the band. It could be a coincidence but since closing the battery door properly the HR monitor seems to be working, at least based on the results from my last dive locally.

For those having problems, can you check that the battery door is properly oriented when closed.

I took your advice and sent the computer in to ScubaPro, and to their credit they replaced the HR transmitter free of charge, and with the new strap it's working perfectly so far, albeit I've only done one dive with it. So perhaps there was an issue with the older HR straps that they fixed with a newer version.

Let me summarize my experience so far . I own two Lunas, one older with 1.1 HW and one with 1.4 HW and a G2.
1) the old polar t31 coded heart rate monitor won't work with Galileo G2

2) The new HRM is compatible with the Galileo Luna. In my 1.4 HW skin temperature is shown too, but with the 1.1 HW Luna skin temperature isn't shown
Scubapro HRM works only for 10 dives max after battery replacement, then it has the known problems

3) Scubapro never replaced any of the two new heart rate monitors I've tried . I live in Greece so things are not easy contacting Scubapro and Scubastore where I bought both says to contact directly with Scubapro .

4) For me G2 and new heart rate monitor are just a total disappointment. Galileo Luna with trimix update also uses ZHL - 16 algorithm

I have bought brand new Galileo Sol and feel some pain with it.
Please help me to figure it out how to use Scubapro heart rate belt that comes with it.
1) How to turn it ON?
2) How to pair it with the Galileo Sol(there are no menu options, but I see the field on the main screen with the "HEART+" sign)?
3) How to operate with it?
4. How to check battery status?
