I'm an old man and can't see the small stuff so good
Get your cataracts fixed! I passed the drivers license vision test without glasses after, and now look for the tiny banded shrimp hiding in the anemones. Medicare and a good supplement will pay for all but the $185 deductible.

Oh, you live in Cozumel now? I have no idea what it costs there, but if too high, schedule some trips back.

I've had cataract surgery and now have perfect vision both near and far. Here is an article about the surgery in Mexico.

Since when did presbyopia equate to cataracts?

The magic of cataract surgery is they put in the lens you ask for.

I wear glasses still as they slightly improve my vision, but they're optional. Thanks for the link.

I'm an old farm boy and figure I've been far sighted most of my life, glasses since I was 40 I think. Bases on Chuck comment, the cataract exam is a good idea.

And when did @ChuckP mention cataracts? Yes, I thought so. Maybe you need reading glasses.

and now @DandyDon has turned into an Eyedoc. This is a great thread! Where is @idocsteve when you need him?

Some operators have PLB's and I'd highly suggest using one
Some Ops there are furnishing PLBs with dive canisters to divers, really? I think Aldora has furnished some Nautilus units, but I haven't heard of Ops with PLBs?

No thank you - I think I'm gonna play the cards I was dealt. I'm a firm believer that when they call doctors practicing, it means just that..... I've actually looked at the surgery - too scary for me. Knees replaced, hips replaced, eyes lasered - omg, that ain't for me............
Yeah, those others scare me, too. I had to have the cataract surgery to keep my driver's license, and I agree that old, blind folks should not be aiming multi-ton self-propelled devices, so I went for it. Life is so much more fun now that I can see more of it, and highly regarded specialists are so good at it.

@ChuckP By age 80, more than half of all Americans have had cataract surgery. You therefore have a good chance of having new lenses whether you like it or not.
