I just don't log dives
Older thread kinda on the topic: How do you pack your gear for travel?

Trip to Hawaii coming up and would appreciate suggestions on what to get. I will put dive gear and a few articles of clothing into the checked bag.

Last time I went to Hawaii, I brought the weight-belt...

I'm thinking about doing so again, but it's another 20 lbs.

Whatcha think about bringing bringing the weight-belt?

I'd bring the belt but not the weights! Don't they usually include weights with the price of a tank or a dive?

Good question to which I don't have an answer. I will call Kona Diving Company later today.

I have never come across any operator or liveaboard or anyone who has ever told me that an operator didn't provide weights. Save your weight for something else or travel lighter. With that said, in warm water, I need a 1/2 kg or 1 lb weight and that would be my exception - I've noticed not many ops have 1/2 kg weights in countries that use metric.

Only check what you are willing to lose or not arrive at your destination when you do.
Carry on everything else.

I did a 6 day trip to Kona, 3 days diving and carried on everything, no checked bag. 1 regular sized rollaboard, 1 backpack. Weights and tanks were provided by the boat/dive shop

^^^^ agree with above bring all essential five gear in carry on that way it wont get lost or stolen. Pack wetsuit and cloths. Running to Wally world for some underwear is cheap and easy, replacing bc, regs, computer not so much.

I, too, believe in the carry-on mantra. I can do an 8 day dive trip with a carry on duffel and personal item. But then, my approach to clothing is, "if I'd wear the same pants for a week at home why do I need four pairs on vacation? I don't pack or wear shoes, only flip flops on my feet. Regulator, camera, computer, and lights go in my personal item while the BCD, wetsuit and miscellaneous bits and bobs go in the duffel. Fins are strapped to the outside as everyone except United is totally cool with that.

Bring chocolates for the gate attendant and another box for the flight crew. A world of sins can be bought with Ferrarr Roche.

I think that almost every dive op we've used over the years has provided weights as part of the price for a dive or per tank, and that includes: shore dives, liveaboards, all-inclusives, packages, and day boats. The only exception I can think of is the Eden Rock Dive Center on Grand Cayman that is popular with cruise ship passengers. We haven't dived with them for awhile but I'm pretty sure that they charged a separate rental fee for weights - but it wasn't expensive.
