+1 for the Oceanic Geo 4.0. We have two of them for my boys, bluetooth and easy to download dives to DiveLog DT app on iPhones and iPads. 16 cold water dives and both work great!

Thanks everyone.
Mares smart air on the way.
263€ with data cable delivered home. Before I came here I was thinking mostly about suunto D4i novo, I feel you got me better deal.

In case someone is reading this topic, my decision was based on:
* I opted out AquaLung i100 for one button and no backlight, but it was even better deal.
* Mares smart vs smart air had only small price bump. (For now I don't have scuba gear, so air integration is far heading future.)
* Leonardo has no freediving mode. Gauge mode may be ok for my usage, but freedive mode will keep log.
* Any bluetooth model cost ether more (than bundle with cable) or has no air integration. I don't dive that much that I need to upload logs during vacation. I have a small kid and vacation is usually planned around playground than diving so far.

Why do you need redundancy for AI while diving in OW levels? I assume the only problem you can get - loosing connection. If you check the pressure time to time and see that it's gone(does it ever happen?) air is still in the tank, there is no emergency situation, you just need to abort the dive and go up. At any point there will be enough air to safe and slow way up, unless gauge shows bananas. But that's just nooby thoughts...

You don't, but if you can't regain your connection, you're going to to need to end your dive.

I believe many do dive AI without an SPG. For me, I already had a compact SPG before I got my AI computer. It doesn’t take up much room in baggage for travel and don’t really notice it on a dive as it runs under my left arm and clipped off on my left shoulder D ring.
When I’m on holiday I don’t want to have to cut dives short due to a DC/connection failure. I’ve paid for the dive, don’t want to miss something cool and often it would mean ending the dive for the whole group - I don’t wanna be that guy!
One time we had a to cut a dive short because a guy in the group sucked his air like a hoover - we missed seeing manta rays because of that (I saw a one from the surface briefly and the other group on the boat spent around 20 mins with them
Luckily we spent a long time with 3 mantas during the 2nd dive!

Just my 2 pennies worth.

Tried it in the pool. So "Mares smart air" is kind of useless as freediving computer if you want any statistics.
I believe it has 1s sampling rate, that is fine, but when you fetch log over cable there is nothing at all: Time/max depth/dive time/surface time.
And some basic dive session information: session time/dive time/max depth/min-max session temperature.
No average depth, no depth graph as someone would expect. Not sure how does it work on other computers, but I am a bit disapointed :)

My wife has started diving and I want to get her a basic computer, and I mean non tech, not complicated, no AI, multiple gases not needed. She really is not a computer person and needs a simple uncomplicated display and simple to use. Oh and not being 21 anymore it needs a larger font size.
I'm thinking of the Suunto Zoop Novo, Aqualung I100, Mares Puck or Mares Quad. Or anything else that gets the popular vote could creeep into the list.

Thanks
Tom

The Oceanic Datamax meets all your requirements. It’s easy to use and has a nice large display. While it it does have AI, it’s hose mounted.

I have a Mares Puck, they’re inexpensive (Leisure Pro has them for about $175) and very easy to use. I got mine a few months ago and only have about 30 dives on it (I’m still a very new diver) but so far I like it a lot. Some people do complain about only having one button to change through menus, but the only time it bothers me is going through the logs on the computer itself when I’m trying to record info after the dive. That could be fixed with the pc cable if it really bothers you though.

Which software did you use? Have you tried Subsurface? Perhaps it might show all the data, whereas some other software might filter out things that are considered "irrelevant".

I tried Subsurface in the beginning, but subsurface was unable to import freediving logs (it connected to computer somehow, I feel it would fetch scuba logs). It told no new logs found.
So I used official Mares software, (Dive organizer).

I was hoping something like this:

but I got the text table on the right only, no depth graph. Can anyone confirm that it should/should not be there?

But I got feeling now that it should be there. So I will hope for technical problem, not that computer is useless :)
