How much to rent a drysuit there then?

I've rented suits on occasion when I had a suit out for service and the shop's I frequent have always loaned us one for free. As a visitor or one-off rental I'm sure they would charge.

Here is an example from a Seattle area shop:

Multi-Day Rentals: Day 1, regular price; Day 2 and beyond, half price

Package Price: 2 Tanks, Regulator, BCD, Weight System, Wetsuit or Drysuit package 20% off; other items at regular price. All the bold items in the chart are part of our package special.

Wetsuit/SCUBA Package: $89 - 20% = $71.20
with Nitrox tanks $107 - 20% = $85.60

Drysuit/SCUBA Package: $159 - 20% = $127.20
with Nitrox tanks $177 - 20% = $141.60

Just a suit, probably $75 day rate, 50% each extra day. That $270 for 7 days.

Thanks for the info. That's not too bad. I'll give it a try. When would be the best time of the year to dive there?

That's how I started with skiing. I started with renting the gear. Once I got hooked on it, starting to ski every year, then I bought ski gear.

During my first trip to British Columbia, we had a diver from Texas wearing a wetsuit. He said he wasn't cold, but I went to high school in Texas and know better. Texans tell tall tales. :)

You'll want to know how to dive a drysuit before going full tilt at it.

Was he shivering when saying that? :D

And as wonderful a video as this is, it just doesn't really express the amazing reality of the place.

After all, a manta ray isn't going to lay on you whilst diving off the west coast of US or Canada.

The colours are generally spectacular and this video isn't completely capturing this either.

Oh geez, I've got to get back to Raja.

Yep. I haven't seen any video as good as seeing with my own eyes, yet. That one reason that I keep coming back there. My 8th visit there is in 6 weeks. :)

:nyah:

I want your life. Mine is good but yours is better.

In olden tymes I found a quarter inch Beavertail jacket over a quarter inch Farmer John, with a thick hood and gloves, OK in 50° F water. That said, I have drysuit now. A single layer of 7mm might not be enough for most people. A Texan, though, could just slather on some Vaseline and call it good.
