I'm looking for an o2 clean MTX-R reg. I know Apeks makes one, its listed on our the UK site but not the US. My dive shop tells me that they cannot get it. Anyone have any ideas where I may find one to have it shipped to the US?

Thanks in advance...

Aaron

I have looked into this, best solution, call/find a uk shop that will ship to a forwarding service that then ships overseas. Apek won't allow dealers to ship overseas and so you have to introduce a middle man. You may also have to hire a broker who helps it through customs. Side note, any warranties/promos will be void in usa and would require shipping back to a UK shop.

I would recommend finding a different way or reg that is o2 clean. Many problems can go wrong with this method such as no shipping insurance due to middle man.

I would go to the eBay site in the UK (ebay.co.uk), since there are plenty of dealers and shops. Most are willing to ship to the states. I wonder if its lack of availability here has anything to do with the oddball M26 DIN fitting?

Don’t do it. The O2 regulators sold in CEE countries have a 1st stage that is neither DIN nor yoke, they are M26. You will not find that matching tank valve in the US. That is a mandated system for ensuring that elevated O2 equipment is not interchanged with air items.

O.K. that is interesting. Could it be converted to standard DIN?

Why is it that the there are so few options in the US in the Apeks line compared to over seas. I know its manufactured there, but there are a lot of guys in my area diving Apeks. I know there's a market for it here.

They are easily altered to standard M25 according to adaptors that I have seen; no more of an issue than converting old DIN regulators, such as my Cyklon 300s (230 Bar) to their more modern, longer (300 Bar) counterparts. An Allen and / or a torque wrench, and five of your valuable minutes is all that's required.

From what I understand, many European divers don't even pay attention to the whole M26 rigamarole; its common use, not that widespread; and they find it a bit overreaching, as most things in the EU have become . . .

Does anyone know if, other than the special Nitrox DIN fitting, the actual reg is any different otherwise.

No documentation available to techs in the US resource library, but probably just green parts and viton o-rings plus the M26 fitting.

I checked, and I didn’t see viton service kits for high O2 use listed here.
