Awesome, I hope you love it, feel free to ask any questions you like. The scooter is new so there are a lot if features to convey. Do you understand the safe start?

Safe start - I'm guessing based on the video...
- double click and hold to start (to avoid accidental startup while carrying / towing)
- if ESC doesn't detect resistance (water) it will maintain a 'safe' slow idle
...close?

Great, Perfect, motor current and rpm are limited to 0.25A and 900 RPM.

Once you are diving and moving through the gears you will only experience safe start again if you leave the scooter off long enough for it to migrate back to speed 3.

- what's the procedure to stop a runaway blacktip? (stuck or malfunctioning trigger etc)
- is there any "give" in drivetrain? mechanical clutch, sacrificial pin that would limit damage on prop strike or something hard going through the shroud
- is there a low battery indicator (flashing display / brief motor cutoff etc) ?
- is 24lbs the weight of the unit without batteries?
- I'm considering 9A or 12A dewalt packs - which would be the better option for achieving close to optimal trim while maintaining neutral buoyancy

Hi Rob:

1) You can generally unstick a mechanically stuck trigger by pulling back on the trigger, it is bi directional with a specific lever part that allows you to pull back on it. Stuck trigger for other reasons would be handled just like all our other scooters using the techniques taught in DVP class. Ride the scooter, try to identify an issue you can solve, pull scooter towards chest, run into bottom, hand in prop etc.
2) Yes, there is an electronic clutch, if the motor senses an obstruction it will stop itself. The props are the weakest point, so you may break a blade if you have a hard strike on something big.
3) Yes, take a look at the web page and videos, they all show the battery indicator, it has 4 bars, just like your phone. Motor will also cutout at low voltage.
4) 24lbs is the weight you scooter should be to be neutral. So yes, it includes batteries, and also some more trim weight if you have light batteries.
5) 9's and 12's weigh the same, so either is good for trim.

Yes - saw the battery indicator, just wondered if there was a secondary warning like a brief motor cutout or downshift when approaching the voltage threshold ...for those times when you may not be paying attention to the battery indicator

24lbs ready-to-dive weight - nice, very nice

5) 9's and 12's weigh the same, so either is good for trim.

Same weight - this is good to know - will go for the 12's then

I've never thought I'd get a scooter, but this one is making me think about saving my money. What does happen, though, if your hand goes into the prop?
