Hey everyone! Just trying to choose which dual light set up to go for. After a lot a asking around I narrowed it down to either dual Big Blue Molly Vs or dual Big Blue VL4200P.
Apparently both lights have variable output settings and would fall pretty close price wise. It would be for a GoPro setup.
Thoughts?

@Dreamer17

I am interested in this but also is there any difference between the Big Blue VL4200 vs VL4200P. My research on lights seems that there may be a big discount on lights(whether just a regular dive light or for photo/video) on Amazon as manufacturers can cut out the middle man and just pay the amazon fee. Seems there are some very good reviews for regular dive lights but I haven't come across the reviews for a well regard photo/video light that is not a main manufacturer that one could buy from a LDS, LeisurePro etc.

I am a total newbie to photography/video with my Fujifilm XP140 which I like very much at the price point especially since I bought it on sale at Costco for $149.

If you have any insights with regards to your research that you could share to a newbie as far as what else you would get with the setup, it is appreciated.

thanks for posting.

Hi there, I'm happy to help you choose video lights for your GoPro! The main differences between these two lights are price and power. I have personally used both. If you are shooting reef scenes and you can get very close to your subjects, BB Molly 2600L will be adequate. However, if you are shooting pelagics out in blue water, you need more power, and I would go with the VL4200! We sell both of these lights here:
Big Blue VL4200P Video Light
Big Blue "Black Molly V" 2600 Lumen Underwater Video Light

I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Not necessarily. Many manufacturers protect their prices and any advertised price will be the same from anyone. You MIGHT find a discount by calling sales outlets and asking for their best price.

I bought two VL4200P and love them. Great choice for my needs.

Thanks for posting the wonderful video. Curious, if you bought two VL4200P, why did you just use one light in shooting the video? Please let me know what was your mount setup for the two VL4200P. Please if you can include a link to where I can buy the same setup. Thanks

At that time I didn't have the mounts ready for my platform so used the hand glove mount. My twin lights go on a DIY platform and they work great.

very interesting DIY mount. Please could you start a new thread on DIY mount and how you did it. I(and I am sure others) would be interested in how you DIY, the costs, advantages/disadvantages of your DIY system vs others.

thanks

I live in Taiwan. I have a friend who makes camera housings for a German company called Imaging Source. They produce all sorts of equipment. Simple to ask to see how many platforms could be made from a standard sheet of plastic that is used for food containers in Europe. IT has to be non toxic. The handles are a simple extrusion with the screw threads in both ends. Different sizes for the two main screws for camera fittings. Standard stick on pads and mounts you can buy from Amazon for Go Pro products etc. We made the platform as they could not be bought. The mounts you see online are for light strobes or video's and not what I wanted.

So we make them in batches. We have lots of friends and some dive shops we dive with who use our gear for customers and students. Originally made for my go pro setup. Advantages, very light weight easy to pack up, glides like a wing in the water so is stable when taking videos, can be put down on the sand or other things like dead corals to take videos or photos.
