I am looking for people to dive with from SF. I dive pretty frequently in Monterey but find that buddies are typically my limiting factor and is one of the main things preventing me from taking my diving to the next level. A little about me, I am from the Bay Area, 27 and living and working in SF, and have ~200 dives with the bulk of that in cold water. I dive a wet suit and steel 100 and recently got a TG-6 that I am really enjoying. I would love to find people who would be interested in doing all sorts of diving on a regular basis. Hope there are some people in the same boat! Let me know!

Hi Ethan,

I belong to a group called Aqua Tutus (Aqua Tutus Diving Club)

We meet monthly in San Leandro, but draw members from all over the Bay area (there is a BART station nearby if you live in the city and don't want to to drive).

The monthly meetings have various diving related topics, and there is a monthly club dive (usually in the Monterey area.) In addition, there are various organized trips as well as people just posting a note on meetup looking for buddies at a particular time. You can view some of the past activity in our meetup (Aqua Tutus Diving Club (San Leandro, CA)) though you need to be a member for particular information.

You can attend a meeting as a guest to meet people and get an idea of what we are about.

Or just DM me and I'll meet with you somewhere for a buddy.

Larry

Hey Ethan, happy you posted this in the same boat here. Looking for more experienced buddies to explore more of Monterrey and other locations.

Background on me is I was a full time instructor quite sometime ago and now mainly guide people from meetups app. Have about ~1k+ dives in mainly tropical but been in breakwater at least 50+ times. Looking to explore more of Monterrey, let me know when you are going next

Hi,
I dive once a month at Monterey. Similar profile as you: 100+ dives, wetsuit, HP 80, carry a TG-5 and not into diving for commercial reasons. I also like to go slow in the water.

DM me if you want to buddy up.
Jay

Hey Ethan,
I typically dive once or twice a month in Monterey (sometimes with my friend who has similar experience) and would definitely be down to buddy up some time. I've got about 120 dives with around 25 in cold water, and I'm transitioning from wetsuit to drysuit currently. I often dive with a camera and am looking to start doing that in Monterey. DM me if you're interested in buddying up sometime!

Hi Ethan,
I too am looking for some buddies to dive with in Monterey. I am not nearly as experienced as the other current have SDI OW and TDI Nitrox, and preparing for checkout dives for SDI AAD and a then plan to work on a collection of other specialties (not collecting cards, but using it as a learning and growth path). I just moved to this coast a little while ago, and have not yet dove Monterey, but plan on spending a lot of time diving there. If you up for an enthusiastic learning looking to get more dives. Let me know. I currently have 12 dives spanning CT, FL , St Thomas, Fiji and GBR.

I'm about to begin my hunt for new buddies as well. I've been essentially completely out of diving for the last ten years, but recall having the same struggle, regarding buddies being the limiting factor. I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 50ish dives, give or take. PADI OW, AOW, and knocking out EAN in a couple of weeks. At some point in my decade-long hiatus from diving, my second logbook (the one containing all my post-OW class dives) abandoned me, so I've decided to call myself a brand new OW graduate with 7 or whatever logged dives. I'm far enough out of practice, it's probably accurate anyway.

OW, plus a few other dives were Maui. AOW was all lake diving in Montana. Everything since has been La Jolla, Redondo, Catalina, and Monterey, making the vast majority of my dives cold water as well.

My aspirations always were, and still are to push hard at skills development and advancing my diving comfort and capabilities, eventually working toward deep and overhead technical diving. That's obviously a long way off, so short term I just want to practice being a better diver, and hopefully find somebody to dive with who's got similar motivations and interests.

I'm out near Stockton, but all that means is I'm driving to reach the water no matter what. Bay, Monterey, whatever.

Hey Everyone,
Kind of forgot I posted this...
Does anyone want to go diving this weekend? Maybe just some chill shore diving on the Monterey side. I can provide transport to and from SF.
Let me know!
