Anyone joining the Vortex in Cabo on the 28th who could bring 2 HP hoses?

This is a pretty long shot, but is there anyone here who is joining the Vortex in Cabo San Lucas this weekend going out to the Socorro Islands who would be able to bring two short (6") High Pressure hoses with them?

Something like these

Stainless Steel Braided HP Hose | Dive Rite

they're used to connect the gas gauge (SPG) to the first stage on a side-mounted tank

I will happily pay both for the hoses and for your time in either USD or pesos.

I did already post this on the Mexico forum but haven't had any luck there. I arrived in Baja a few days ago and was diving over the weekend and both of my (sidemount) SPG hoses developed leaks. I've tried everywhere I can think of in town and can't find replacements, I've also looked into overnighting them from the US, but realistically it's unlikely I can get anything Fedexed and cleared through customs in time to leave on Saturday.

I have to ask, as I have no idea what your level of gear knowledge is. But two hoses developing leaks simultaneously sounds odd. Is the leak from the rubber itself, or from a connection? Could it just be o-rings at the connection, or on the HP spool? There is a spool between SPG and hose, right?

Thanks for checking, I'd put my knowledge somewhere the intermediate level I guess. But it's the swivel (at the SPG end) on both that's gone bad, not the o-rings unfortunately, which I believe is not serviceable. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

One's completely gone and was dumping air, and the other's bubbling slightly. I'd deal with the slight bubbling if it was just for a day or maybe a weekend, but for an entire week I'm a little more circumspect.

I agree it's very unusual for both to go at once, all I can think is that they were from the same batch and there was a flaw in the manufacturing. They're less than a year old, and have been stored in the utah dry air (although cleaned and kept in a dark cool room) and not used since June and maybe that's a contributing factor.

Worst case scenario and I can't get replacements, I do have a longer HP hose with me and can bungee that around somehow, and probably pick up another long HP hose, or borrow a hose plus gauge, somewhere, but neither is ideal.

Remove the SPG from the hose. There should be one of three different spool types between the two parts that allows an air seal on the swiveling part. There are two very small o-rings on the spool (I think usually 003) that can be cleaned, lubricated, and/or replaced.

thank you, I didn't realize the spool went that far down and maintained the seal at the swivel, I thought it just made the seal in the actual connector. I'll try that and see what I can do.

Alec Pierce posted a video about servicing your spg. As I recall replacement air spools are available from most bike shops quite cheaply. Or just replace the o-rings.

Are you thinking of an inflator hose Schrader valve perhaps? I can’t think why a bike shop would use an HP spool.

worst case even if the crimping on the hose is bad, you can see if there is an industrial hose supplier in the area that can recrimp it or just run two 28 inch spg hoses and bungee them down to the tank.
