looking to go back to PH the end of November. I've been to PG and loved it.

I can fly into MNL or CEB.

Question is where to go. I'm thinking Malapascua good be cool for threshers and Macro, or Dauin for macro and Apo island. what are your thoughts?

If your heart is set on seeing the threshers, go to Malapascua. If you would like a fabulous mix of muck diving and vibrant corals, turtles, fish life and currents, go to Dauin and Apo.
These days there are flights from Cebu to Dumaguete, so no need to transit via Manila. Cebu is of course the right airport for Malapascua. If really lucky, you might not even need an overnight in Cebu except just before departure.

Did you seen any threshers when you went to PG last time? We are seeing them at the moment around Kilima steps. If I had 6 days I might do Malapascua and then Moalboal :)

Stick to one place.
Dauin and Malapascua are both great. You would enjoy diving both places. There are plenty of dive sites at both locations to keep you busy.

Agreed. will only stay in one place. the questions is which place?
- Dauin
- Malapascua
- Moalboal

i'm leaning towards Dauin

I been to Daun two times last year. That would be my choice. I stayed at Pura Vida and enjoyed it very much. It is not only macro, but that's what I wanted. Apo Island day trip was great, lots of snakes and turtles. They also do a day trip to Oslob for whale sharks.
Both trips were great but different. In May we had lots of frog fish, incl hairy, plus lots other things in October we had lots of octopi. 6 wonderpus on one dive. Plus, plus plus.
I gave my guide a list of things I wanted to see and we worked on it. After both trips my list was complete.
And I would still go back.

If you like macro, 100% Dauin. Some days you get lucky some days it is quiet. Orica Pier is fantastic and Apo Island too.

Malapascua is nice, sharks and gato island but the rest is pretty average.

Moalboal I like Pescador Island but the remaining is average too.

definitely want to do Apo multiple days and night diving in Dauin (love night diving, especially for macro)

a shame that i will miss octopus season (i'll be there last week of November) Octopi are my favorite

We saw masses of octopus the second week of December a few years ago.
