The person doing the VIP doesn't have their own mallet?

I didn’t need for a rubber mallet before. Now I do. I’m a suburban apartment dweller. I had no need for anything more than a very basic tool kit before I started diving. Now I’m VIPing my tanks, I needed the mallet.

Ah ok you're doing the VIP yourself, I thought it had to be done by someone qualified. I've no idea, we have to get hydros every year here.

Yes, every year. Hydro every five years here.

And I am qualified. I took the inspection course the same long weekend up in Canada in August when I did ITT.

@kensuf

You teased me about my pink. :D Here’s even more PINK. My instructor uses duct tape to label tanks. I got some very pink duct tape. My tanks will never be confused with anyone else’s. :D Gotta have some fun! :D

Any reason you dont just use the standard yellow nitrox labels from your shop? I've been to a few different countries on many tech boats and never had my deco bottles mixed up.

Eh, sure. I can see 60m being useful for those diving in areas where 60m can be reached, but in that situation, again, you may as well do trimix and get 200' and the ability to ise as much helium as you want. That's pretty much useless for those of us (like myself) limited to 150' by sand (on the deep wrecks), who don't need anything more than 18/35ish? For a more clear mind when penetrating a wreck, and to keep gas density low.

By a 60m course I mean, in the TDI OC case, Trimix. Other 60m courses are available. Even all the TDI ones are not called Trimix.

So what is the actual delta between a 45m accelerated deco class, a 60m one and a 100m one? Mostly planning? A bit of rigging (like the suit bottle)? Finding out maybe you want two deco cylinders for reasons other than depth?

There is a view that once you can use a deco cylinder, which is just like a pony after all, that it is all the same. Read up on Scuba Board a bit, next stop the Britannic.

Why would you put a nitrox label on a deco bottle? She's using the duct tape for her analysis label, in conjuction with MOD markings.

I know what she's using the duct tape for. The regular yellow nitrox tags work fine and the shop already has them, why reinvent the wheel and start sticking random tape to things.

No offense, but why does it matter? I thought the point was to get the information on the tanks. As long as you don't see her pink duct tape on your tanks you'd think it would be ok?

Again, not really meant to offend, it just blows my mind when everybody questions the sh!t out of everybody else because that's not the way "they" do things...

Edit: unless there's some logical reason that I don't know because I'm not tech, but I feel like if your going to state an issue I'd like to know the reason why....again, I might not know...

If you’re referencing the large, wrap around the tank style ones, they are a poor substitute for proper gas contents marking.
