Hi all,

I just got my PADI Rescue Diver cert and I want to move into the professional side of diving. I have 38 logged dives, so I’m close to the prereq 40.

I know dive shops across the world offer “internships” where you go and work in exchange for training. I’ve looked into internships the FL Keys; Utila, Honduras; and Cancun, Mexico, and those all look great. However, I got a tip from a family member about looking into opportunities in the Caymans, so here I am.

Does anyone have experience with a DM course in the Caymans? Any dive shops you guys would recommend?

This group is advertising internships:
GO PRO DIVING - GoProCayman Free DiveMaster Internship | Divemaster Training Courses

There's many different dive ops in the Caymans and most of them are listed at the link below; you could try reaching out to some of them to ask about internship opportunities. Good luck!
WaterSports & Dive - Cayman Islands Tourism Association

Thank you! I reached out the the guy in charge so we'll see what happens

I'd also check with Serena Evans at Divetech. She runs a few DM courses during the year. Contact using info@divetech.com

Also a great opportunity to be exposed to some technical and rebreather diving.

Also try to get some more dives under your belt. The competition is fierce for the handful of opportunities that come up. There are people with some solid hours of experience and save your money. Cost of living at least in Cayman can be eye opening!

Liveaboards are a great way to get in a lot of dives done in one week but they can be expensive. But the Blackbeard's "no frills" LOBs in the Bahamas are $995 per week and that includes meals, lodging, beer/rum punch and up to 19 dives. You would have to fly to Nassau and there are a few other expenses, like tips for the crew - but a Blackbeard's LOB cruise is a bargain IMO.
