Hello,
I would like to make the hop over to Cayman for the purpose of doing the SDI Solo course.
Last year I contacted Stingray Watersports and they replied that they could do it, but now that I am ready they replied that they no longer would be able to do it as their instructor in no longer with them. They had recommended I contact In-depth watersports, but I have not heard back from them as yet.

Can anyone make a recommendation?

According to someone I spoke to they don’t teach the course because it is illegal to solo dive in the Caymans.

Solo diving technically is not illegal in Cayman. It's just very frowned upon here. We at Divetech don't allow it because we are members of CITA, and they don't allow it in their rules and regs.

That said we do teach the SDI solo diving class, and the PADI self-reliant diver. Teaching the solo diving class is not 'solo diving' as you're with your instructor. If Nat an In-Depth cannot do it, let us know.

Hmmm. I stand corrected, good to know.

If you search for dive centers on the SDI website teaching solo, you get Indepth, Stingray, Divetech, and Off the Wall

I did that last year and messaged all that were listed through their website (can't remember if it was as much as 4 though), but only Stingray replied, so I was going to go with them. The plan didn't work out for last year though and now they can't do it.

Urgh. Once again unless it changed cita addresses solo diving when boat diving. Nothing about shore.
