Any reason other than the ones in the exclusions

I had a lot of angry people that were denied a claim because they did not look at the exclusions on the "all inclusive policy".

My cancel for any reason is only limited by time (ie. bought within a certain number of days of booking and made within certain hours of travel). No other exclusions, but it is only 50%. Can cancel "for any reason not otherwise covered by this plan." at least that's the language of the policy (and I do defense work). Of course no insurance company ever made money by paying claims, so....

I'll be flying through and spending a day in Taiwan at the end of next month on my way to Indonesia, so I too have been monitoring things closely but with the knowledge that the odds are extremely in my favor of being fine. Being informed is good, but currently I'm not at all concerned. Personally I'm more concerned about eating something that won't agree with me.

My only concern is a total travel ban or similar

Just do the normal things you would do to avoid a cold or flu. Wash your hands a lot, avoid shaking people's hands, and on the plane/bus/airport wear a mask

I have a trip to Tubbataha at the end of March. I'm flying from HK and Philippines has banned all travelers from HK. Cebu Pacific flights are cancelled until Feb 29 but allow free cancellation for all flights up until March 31. My flight is currently not cancelled yet but who knows when the travel ban will end.

Worst case I can work from Singapore for 14 days preceding the trip and fly in from Singapore to clear the travel restriction (ironic since Singapore has more confirmed cases than HK).

Is it too late to purchase travel insurance to cover the liveaboard portion of the trip? Flight cost I will get back for sure. If I can get liveaboard cost back via travel insurance I may just cancel the trip rather than deal with the uncertainty.

Has anyone traveled to Philippines recently and know what questions they will ask? i.e. if I fly in from Singapore will they actually look at my passport stamp to make sure I was not in HK for last 14 days? Debating whether I can get away with less than 14 days in Singapore if I just fly in from Singapore.

Does anyone remember how long similar travel bans lasted for SARS, MERS etc?

Indonesia is not affected right? I also have a trip to Raja Ampat right after...

Yes, my issue is whether there will be flights: my friend is transiting Hong-Kong to Cebu in April, I'm transiting Singapore to Mandado.

More and more places are starting to lump Hong Kong with mainland China now in their travel ban, despite Hong Kong confirmed cases not being that high.

I think more and more places will be added to a ban until it’s so widespread and impractical that only a few key routes will be open, band lifted, but people will be prescreened prior to airport entry.

Generally your agreement with your credit card states that you pay for services rendered or goods received. That is why when tour companies go bankrupt those who have not started their travel are usually covered. If you had started your trip even only one flight segment, then you received something, not everything, and you lost.

If the airlines do not fly or there are government restrictions against travel, then you may not have to pay the credit card, they will recover the cost from your travel agent/airline/hotel/tour company etc.

Possibly unrelated due to being a non diving trip that hopefully will be cancelled:

Still have a planned trip to China mid April, but hope flights will get cancelled (too far out for that to have happened yet, the airline green lighted no penalty rebooking at a later time so far). I hope so not necessatily because the death rate (which is quite higher than with influenza, but quite lower than with SARS), albeit it would be stupid to gamble with that unecessarily. I am of the opinion that if you travel in China and are amongst the people, you could not avoid infection no matter how many times a day you wash your hands. And travelling there to not be amongst the people, either by choice or by rules in place of course completely defeats the purpose. That's reason #1 to await flight cancellation or reschedule if necessary.

Reason #2: Yeah, who wants to be forcibly quarantined for 2 weeks after coming back...

Reason #3: If they did the quarantine thing right, you'd be 2 weeks quarantined prior to birding that plane leaving the place (imho), so that everyone on the plane is sure not to be infected, so that the plane does not become that incubator... potentially having to spend 14 hours on a plane with people all of which would be quarantined after arrival seems like asking to be infected.

Also would hate to arrive somewhere and then find out things changed and I be turned back because they decided to turn back everyone with my kind of passport, infected or not. Seems to me that at least if you have been infected and survived and are cured you ought to get a medical stamp of "immunity" of sorts... (not the case with me, just tginking) But infecteous disease control appears to be not only (often necessarily) a blunt instrument, but also one quite affected by fear mongering politics.

AFAIK you could still buy, but wouldn't be surprised if premiums jacked up now given the circumstances. The underwriting is much different than it was 2 months ago. The only thing you couldn't get is a cancel for any reason rider which I think has to bought within 21 days or so of initial booking

My flights are all on points (except Silk SIN to Manado)
