This thread was inspired by the other thread on why people hate the weight belt. In order to get a general idea of peoples preferences I thought a poll would be useful. Feel free to expand your reply with a more detailed answer below. Thanks.

I have used both weight belts and integrated weights and I don’t really have a preference one way or the other...not an option on the poll.

I haven't voted yet, I have used both, and I'm currently on the fence. I recently bought a back inflate jacket, and i like the trim pockets, and the weight pocket placement under water. I do a lot of shore diving and i think i prefer a belt for that. Lower weight placement equals lower C of G getting in and out. And the separate loads are easier to deal with donning and ditching.

Depends
Backmount Mono: ditchable weights in pockets (warm water, wetsuit)
Backmount doubles: non ditchable (cold water, drysuit)
Sidemount: „removeable“ o_O

Weight belt does not really work with the crotch strap

I prefer to not have any lead if I can help it, but if I need it, I use a normal weight belt. I don't like integrated weights and don't have any intention of ditching weight, just prefer belts to integrated weight.

@Joebar they work fine. If you don't ever intend on ditching, put it on first. If you intend to ditch, once you put the rig on you lean forward and put the belt on under the tank. If you intend to ditch it's more annoying to don, but it is what it is. I just put mine on before the rig and accept that I'm not going to ditch without undoing the waist belt

I currently use both with dry suit. 2/3 of weight integrated and 1/3 on weight belt.

I THINK this is what I answered by checking the second and fifth boxes.

I've never used integrated weights, so my opinion is pretty useless. I just put some trim pockets on my BP/W, and plan to test those out on the next dive/s in an effort to move away from the weight belt. I'm kind of wedge-shaped and ass-less, so belts don't really work well for me. They're also annoying with the crotch strap.

I don't concern myself with ditchable weight, as I've never had a rig I can't swim around with no air in the wing anyway.
