I want to add that most of this discussion was from 2005. Scubapro has since issued an upgrade kit to upgrade the HP seat. This fixes the issues Scubatoys was reporting. Though long out of production, the MK-16 can be a fine reg.

Agree, I bought a new MK16 when it was the latest thing and after the necessary HP seat upgrade it has been a great first stage for me. From the box of first stages that I own, the MK16 is one the most used and has always been dependable.

It's essentially an unsealed MK-17 after the upgrade with one less HP port.
Isn't the MK11 basically an unsealed MK17?

I see the MK11 and MK16 have the same part number for the diaphragm, where the MK17 is different.

Sound more like the 16 is the 11 without the second HP port.
There was some discussion recently on the 11/17 differences with the 11 having a thicker diaphragm using only one plastic friction ring (don’t recall exactly what the plastic ring is called) having direct contact with the water and the 17 using a thinner diaphragm and two rings to work with the pressure transmitter.

MK 11’s and 17’s can be found at really great prices, I wouldn’t waste my time with a 16

On schematic it's simply listed at "Diaphragm ring"

Interestingly (?) the MK11 kit is more expensive than the MK19/17 kit.

I always heard the evolution went MK14 --> MK16 --> MK17...

If Simon doesn't have what you need, I have a MK16/18 "repair/update" kit I'm willing to sell for less than a kidney.
Is it a generic kidney or one of mine, that would really bring the price down.
