How to request number of Certifications of my staff?

Maybe if you call PADI they can informe you. I would be surprised if it was classified info...

Classified, of course not, but private? Yes. If the certs were done by an independent instructor, or through another shop, they belong to that instructor/shop. It is between the new shop and the instructor, but if he won't verify his claim of certs, how can he be trusted?

Just a thought to add - keep in mind that not all instruction is reflected in the certification counts.
I train a lot of confined water skills that lead to certifications via referrals in warmer climes. That would not be reflected in my cert report.

that depends on agency and whether you submit paperwork. if PADI and you submit a training completion form for OW referrals and DSDs you get partial credit. However you're right - not everything is accounted for in a raw cert count.

aside from the instructor potentially lying about the number - is there an issue? In general being renewed and authorized to teach is what you should care about.

We had a guy like that try to get a job. After asking for his dive resume and certification printout, he suddenly lost interest.

You might also specifically look at junior certs. We had a guy working for us that decided he was not going to train any more junior students after he was involved in blowing out one junior students ear drum.

Ever since then, we don’t deal with instructors we don’t have first hand knowledge of. It has worked out well.

Of course, but they are part of the story. A diver with 1000 dives may not be a good diver but a diver with 2 dives would not be considered an experienced diver.

i never said that. I was asking what the issue was.
