Not true at all. Intro can be done on a single tank, per the TDI standards.

True. The student can use a single tank, as long as it has a Y or H valve and they are using 2 x 1st stage regs.

And how many are actually going to do that, same as doing that for AN/DP?

I don’t know of anyone who would tech dive in a large single tank, aside from an old timer or two I know. And would an instructor accept a student diving that configuration, even though it’s in the standards?

I do.

Up to the instructor. Do you know anyone that can speak for all tech instructors?

I do too. Lots of people around NC still do tech dives on singles. Water is shallow. Hard for people to justify lugging doubles around for a 110' dive.

rvojr,

Have you considered doing your course in the Great Lakes/Canada? I'm scheduled to do mine in Lake Huron at Tobermory this summer; limited penetration with reel work.

110ft seems shallow
Until you're narced while connected to a panicky OOA buddy wanting to bolt or who's catatonic

I dunno where 110ft = shallow comes from but it ain't shallow enough when the SHTF.
The surface is shallow

You're preaching to the choir. Pretty much anything over 80' and I'm in doubles. Tech or not.

I'm not scoffing at 110' at all. I had just meant there are alot of people in NC who do see 110' as shallow and don't respect it.
