Wow. Cebu Pacific, a domestic carrier in the Philippines, just announced they are completely shutting down for a month.

I remember after hurricane Katrina they raised prices on everything. I remember paying 4.50 a gallon for gas. It is now a law that a business canning raise prices over a certain percentage during a national crisis

Our mistake. Higher prices on in demand goods are what is needed to control that demand so people only buy what they need and so there is a reason to create or bring in more supply.

Friends in Saudi Arabia are telling me the country is in lock down. No foreigners in or out of Maccah, which is a pretty big deal especially with Ramadan around the corner.

Most Middle East countries are in lockdown apart from UAE, where Emirates airlines are still operating from Dubai but limited to countries where they are allowed to travel to. In fact there has been and still is three flights per day to Beijing where on return the aircraft go through a six hour decontamination process before flying again! (as per an EK engineer dive buddy).

The BIG issue with Saudi is whether or not to cancel the Haj which is in August this year, when up to two million pilgrims descend on Mecca and Medina.

So those on a fixed income or have low income are to do what if prices are raised on in demand goods? The last thing that needs to happen is to raise prices. I saw what happened when prices were raised during Katrina -- people just ended up looting businesses and that is never a good thing.

Indonesia now removing 30 day Visa On Arrival option for travelers. All travelers must now go through a consulate and get a visa for your intended travel purposes. Tourist Visa (for 60 days) is usually $50 and very easy to do - you need return tickets, bank print out showing balance within last 2 weeks, letter of employment stating your position and good standing as well as approved leave dates, passport photos...but now you also need a health certificate in order to get one. They also added new countries to the list of banned entries: Italy and Vatican City, Spain, France, Germany, the UK, as well as Iran. Previous restrictions on China and South Korea still apply.

Foreigners are also not allowed into Sorong (Raja Ampat)...

Better that they just don't have any. Or maybe it should be rationed. See how that works.

@BRT better they don't have any...………...am I understanding you correct - you want people on fixed incomes (I.E. senior citizens) and low incomes to go without??????????? how is that even remotely right? WOW! Maybe you need to rethink your statements before you post because you are digging a deeper hole each time.

Rationing would be a better option then making someone go without because they cannot afford it due to price gouging
