I want to service my hoses and wing and am trying to figure out what I need:

Inflator hose: has 2 o-rings (1 at each end) plus a Schroeder Valve, correct? What size / durometer o-ring at the inflator end?

Power Inflator (Argonaut): I’ve seen suggestions to replace the whole inflator, just replace a cartridge, and some information on servicing existing parts. What do you guys do, and if service, how many and what size o-rings?

Thanks,
Joe

I can only comment on ScubaPro equipment and replace both of these O-rings when I do my periodic regulator overhauls. The ScubaPro part number is 0105-0132. This is a great forum (!!!) and from what other uses have shared, this translates to #2-010 size, SH A 70 hardness, 6.06mm inside diameter and 1.78mm ring width. This would give an outside diameter of about 10mm. Oh, and apparently the material is EP (ethylene-propylene). Hope that helps!

I usually just replace them when they need it. At $15 from Dive Gear Express it's not worth my time. They have schematics on there with the o-rings for the standard inflator style.

If you are having issues with buildup though, you need to get one of the hose adapters that flushes water in through the valve assembly during rinsing and prevents it from gunking up with salt

I agree, remove and replace. I really wanted the SS Halcyon inflator to work, but after "servicing", eventually had to click my ruby slippers together three times.

Thanks guys.

Do you wait until something starts to leak, or replace regularly? I have no signs of anything wrong but it’s been 2 years of salt water use (albeit with good hygiene.)

The DGX inflator has a shaft with 2-Orings. They do tend to get sticky over time. That depends on use and cleaning. That's when I rebuild. As stated, some will replace as they are inexpensive.
Not sure if the Schroeder Valve type go longer between servicing/replacement.
Best to have a backup in your saveadive kit. It's right before a dive sticking and leaking tend to show up. Easy to replace in a few minutes.

Thanks guys.

wait until they fail. Keep one in your save a dive kit. You'll probably have one dive where you have to orally inflate. They pretty much always fail open, so when plugged in they will constantly inflate.

1) the hose end Schrader valve will last a long time. I have some never serviced schraders >10rs old. Eventually the oring that seals the hose to the nipple or the schrader pin itself will leak. By that time the rest of the hose warrants replacement anyway.

2) Buy a replacement power inflator and keep some zip ties in your save a dive kit. If you aren't doing deco dives, just dive it until it leaks then replace.

We found that the correct size oring for this application is 610 L.P. Inflator Hose Bull clip O-rings-610
and we even developed a tool for it Bull clip LP Hose O-ring installation tool - Scubagaskets
Hope this helps
