Hi Everyone,

I just started my PADI open water course, completed one confined water dive then we hit lockdown. During the lockdown, I have had the chance to complete the paper and theory/knowledge tests and even start getting some kit together of my own.

I am sure it will not be too much longer before we are back in the water, take care everyone and stay safe.

Welcome from Canada. Hope you are able to finish the OW course soon. I see PADI has some new guidelines for "safer" procedures due to the Virus.

Shame about the delay, although on the plus side, at least it'll be warmer when you get to do your open water dives. Are you doing them at Stoney Cove?

Yes I believe we will be, which is fine with me to be honest.

I signed up yesterday to add the dry suit course on as most of the diving I do will be in the UK, apart from when we go on holiday.

I am pretty much well covered though, I have just sorted out a dry suit, I have a shorty wet suit and a full wetsuit lol.

I spoke to my instructor yesterday and the whole team is watching the dive sites to see when they are going to re open.

Good call on the drysuit. If you want to UK dive all year round it's a must.

Just a thought; have you managed to swing a discount for doing your OW and drysuit spec at the same time? If not, it maybe worth asking as if you're using a DS for the OW course you cover most of the required skills during your four 'check out' dives. That usually just leaves one additional DS suit for the specialty rather than the two if running it as a stand-alone. G

Hi mate, yes I did, to be honest whe n I did the try dive, I said there and then I was going to take it further and they said to sign up for both OW & DS at the same time and I was sure I did but me and my instructor were chatting last weekend and he said I didn't so, that's why I went down and sorted it but I still got the discount.

Im getting desperate now though, I have a big enough paddling pool I'm itching to fill it and get in lol
