Just over 7 days out, still hemming and hawing on the dive operator. Got some Awesome recommendations from you guys (Aldora, Liquid Blue, ScubaTony, ScubaDu) all are a touch far away and will eat up a lot of time to make it happen. Juggling pursuing "My Dive Trip" and "Trip with My non Diving Lady that includes Diving". I was informed that Dressel is opening their COZ shop independent of the shuttered Iberostar hotel on July 1st. Have dove with them in 2 countries out of 4 different locations so may see what I can work for pick ups with them as they're very close to Secrets. Dive House still, unfortunately, sounds like last resort for convenience sake.

Oh well...can't wait until November. Decided to get wet 8/10 through 8/17. Staying at Villa Escondida and diving with Tres Pelicanos. Looking forward to Magda's breakfast and it's rumored @manta_man is going to be on the boat. Looks like a fun trip. :):clearmask:
Plan as of Wednesday, I think a lot of the usual suspects are getting itchy to get some diving in. Longest dry patch I have had in eight years. I plan on being there and also have a week off starting 7/11, if they get any bookings enough to justify running a boat that week I'll head down. Plus my last hair cut was at carnival by Bronson out on 10th and 95. Looking like a patchy male pattern baldness version of Einstein's head but d@mnit there needs to be some loyalty and he is my barber and I am holding out

Barber loyalty transcends vanity. Hold fast, brother. Hold fast.

I feel your pain...I'm at 164 and counting. Headed for the Bahamas on the Juliet in approx. 3 weeks pending a neg swab test 10 days before traveling. Been a pain in the a$$ getting an appointment for an asymptomatic test in my neck of the woods (testing only for those with symptoms, healthcare workers, or law enforcement). Found a county health dept. several counties away that would schedule the test. Geez...it's a brave new world, but I still want to go diving. I think there are a couple other threads going about what divers will do to dive these days...:)

Was that required by the Op? You can acquire the virus the week prior to traveling and infect others, but it does narrow down the possibilities. Social distancing on a boat is impossible.

Required by the Bahamas as part of their July 1st re-opening. Yes, social distancing will be compromised. I guess you would have to run the numbers as to whether the risk is greater on a small liveaboard of folks tested in the last 10 days (and are acutely aware of the situation); OR at the airport; on the plane; in the taxi/Lyft; going to get tested; going to work; going to Walmart/grocery store; etc.. I'm not doing this lightly. I wear my mask, wash my hands, socially distance when possible, etc.. I see it as personal risk assessment and as divers we're all familiar with that. One size doesn't fit all and I can certainly empathize with others that choose a different path as long as they make use of the tools we currently have that provide what safety there is in this current situation. If there is news of an actual vaccine in the near term, I'll reassess my situation. Until then I'm going to live my life as best I can and I want "tidy bowl" diving to remain part of it. The airline, boat, and Bahamas seem to want my business. I do take some consolation that the other divers on the boat choose to be there and I assume most on the plane as well. That can't necessarily be said for those in the workplace or other areas of day to day life. I wish everyone the best in navigating their personal situation in these trying times. :) :cheers:All IMHO, YMMV.
