Hi guys,

Here is a video of our dives at Waterbury Reservoir. Our dives had a purpose, to retrieve a lost watch.
So we stayed in the same area for both dives but I think the video gives a good idea of the viz (or lack of) in the Reservoir.
Enjoy and bear in mind that this is our first video :)

Wow, you found it!!! That is so cool.

This reservoir is actually over an old road that once had some houses, a church, and a graveyard on it. I imagine the buildings were removed before they flooded the valley but always thought it would be quite fun to do a dive and check it out. I'm sure it's completely covered with sediment at this point. The flood of 1927 cutoff the settlement up on the mountain and so everyone moved abandoning their houses. The houses were used by the men who constructed the dam and then they were razed and burned. Cellar holes still exist up there as well as a couple of cemeteries and the old roads used as hiking trails. It's a great place.

viz isn't actually that bad. I have quite fond memories growing up at that reservoir and can only imagine how much stuff you'd find with a metal detector down there
I was thinking the same, I live in NH this is normal viz for me... and yes a metal detector in here would be cool

That viz would be a good day at Fort Wetherill! Good job finding the watch.

I'd like to get my metal detector in there. I just don't know how I'd get the rest of my gear to the water. Maybe if I started real early but, then there's the trip back out! No way that would turn into an overnighter for me!

I heard the same thing about a lake in upstate NY, Lows Lake and Bog River. I did a little snorkeling there saw lots of dead trees and tons of Large mouth bass but no foundations or buildings. It is a big lake and I only did one small area of a small cove.
