Hello Everyone,

I want to know your opinions to help me with drysuit purchase. Santi E.Lite+ or Hollis DX 300X?

My buddy has the E-lite + and loves it. I was going to grab the Emotion +, but I'm going to save my doubloons and wait for an E Lite. The material is excellent, and that new Scarlett color is fire. I've never seen the Hollis.

I recently bought a Santi E. Lite+ and dove with it in Antarctica. The Santi replaced a DUI FLX Extreme I dove for about 5 years. The Santi E. Lite+ is a great suit and the material is very durable in high wearing spots, and a bit flexible in spots it needs to be. I love the quality build of the suit, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. FWIW, I had them install Kubi rings on the sleeves for my seals and drygloves rather than going with the Santi seals only because I was familiar with the Kubi system.

I think the Santi is probably overall better quality and more durable. But, at least one version of their attached boots are, apparently (no firsthand experience, but a friend has), ****. You can search around here on ScubaBoard for more info on that and how crappy they have treated some of their US customers who've had boot problems. My friend whose boots developed a hole had only had the suit for 14 months and Santi just said "the warranty is only 12 months on the boots. Too bad."

The Hollis is a decent suit. But, I do have a buddy with that Hollis suit. His is not THAT old or THAT many dives and he has already had to fix several pinhole leaks.

I have seen several Santi E.lite suits that friends have. I would spend the same money and buy 3 Seaskin trilam suits before I bought one E.lite. Or buy 2 Seaskins and keep a pile of change.

I think the Seaskin Nova (trilam) is directly comparable in quality to the Santi E.lite. Keyword: Comparable. I am not getting into a debate over whether one is slightly better than the other. Seaskin suits are made to measure, for a LOT less money. I know 2 people personally that got Santi made to measure gear and it didn't fit right AND they had to fight to get satisfactory resolution. In contrast, while I'm sure it has probably happened, I don't know anyone who has gotten a Seaskin and said that the fit was totally off. My two Seaskin suits, purchased at different times both fit me perfectly.

My Seaskin Nova is almost 2 years old. I was diving it this past weekend and it still looks like new. I have never gotten wet in it (other than my own sweat). Though, I will freely admit that I've only done 40 dives in it. But, I used it for my whole Adv Wreck Penetration training class right after I got it, so it has definitely seen "some action".

Thanks for your detailed feedback. I was just talking with my GUE instructor yesterday, and he told me the Santi E.Lite+ is much better than the hollis and it's almost in the same price range. Now I have already ordered the Hollis in the beginning of this month and I asked them to customize the socks for me to a larger size, and I haven't got it yet. I was supposed to get it last week, but of whatever reason, they haven't yet finished it, and now I really don't know if I paid for the right dry suit or not. I paid $2200 + $160 for the sock customization. So my instructor is telling me to cancel this suit and go for either Santi or DUI.

How much is the Santi E. Lite+ for you? They're definitely a lot more that $2200 here in the US.

About $2400 with customization that I need

You are definitely paying a fair bit more for the Hollis than what I've seen other people get them for. And, that price on the Santi seems lower than I would expect.

At anywhere around the same money, I would take the Santi over the Hollis, for sure.

In my opinion the two are in two completely different fields. The santi is an excellent suit, the Hollis is ok. I'd go elite+ all day. Add to that the fact that Santi has excellent customer service and Hollis' is nonexistent.
