X-CCR price took it out of contention for me.
Too much chromed plastic on the caps and covers. Huge BOV. And what seemed like a lot of space for expansion in the can on ascent.
And yes, the price.

I LOVE mine! And so does @doctormike!
I think the numbers are increasing, slowly.
It was an interesting choice for me. Liked the new technology in the X-CCR, but the JJ build quality and logical layout won me over.

Seriously, I know that everyone boosts the CCR that they bought, but every time I dive mine I get happier that I picked it (although having a bit of a problem getting cells right now!). It's just very well designed and though out, simple but capable, built like a tank, beautifully machined, clean layout, etc... Everything that I need, nothing that I don't need.

Not saying anything bad about any others, I don't have the experience to do that. But lots of very experienced people do big dives with them, and since rebreathers in general are such a small niche market, that's good.

Interesting read, though nobody in the States seems to care for JJ CCR?
It's renowned for being reliable and simple. It is after all the CCR that has the current depth record as far as I know. Will Goodman wouldn't use something he wasn't absolutely sure of for this.
rEvo, AP, Optima, Meg seem to be mentioned a lot, but not much on the JJ, SF2, Liberty etc. How come?
I see JJs all the time. They got off to a slow start in this country due to poor distributorship.

The SF2 not as much but there are a few. Liberty is not common on this coast (seattle area) due to lack of distribution and instructors.

You referring to the Chopitma or the Optima (for the OP). I didn't realize you had a rental/loaner unit. Lamar only knew that Ted did.

I have one of each, FMCL, BMCL, CHOptima

Im just glad real life rebreather divers get along better than scubaboard divers

I thought we were getting along fine. Maybe your perception of off through text. Maybe mine is off.

It's not your fault. It's that @doctormike guy stirring up trouble with pictures of real divers with real JJ's on real boats, when a lot of folks are stuck at home.

HEY! Not may fault if divers of lesser rebreathers need a cargo crane and winch for the crew to haul them out of the water...

With a JJ, you just swim back to the dock, towing the dive boat behind you on a long Jon line...
